In case you missed it, Artists, Writers and Artisans (AWA) revealed their launch titles, and Archaia announced their plans to publish “The Man Who Came Down the Attic Stairs.”

Playboy Magazine released a brand new six-page “Vampirella” story for the character’s 50th anniversary. The story is written by Gail Simone (“Red Sonja”) and drawn by Joyce Chin (“Xena Warrior Princess”), with colours by Addison Duke (“Hack/Slash Resurrection”) and letters by Talyor Esposito (“Rainbow Brite”). It follows Vampirella as she protects a couple of professional cosplayers from their cannibalistic peers. The story, published in Playboy’s Spring 2019 Freedom of Speech issue, is available now.

– “Dimri i gjate i vitit 1945: Tivari” or “The Long Winter of 1945: Tivari,” the first Kosovar graphic novel, was launched by professor and sociologist Anna Di Lellio and co-author and illustrator Dardan Luta on Tuesday. With the graphic novel, the pair aim to highlight a part of history not well known to many: the Tavari massacre, which saw hundreds of Kosovar partisans killed after their five day journey to Bar, Montenegro (known as Tavari, in the Albanian language). Lellio and Luto compiled numerous eyewitness interviews, reports and memoirs, as well as other historian’s books to try and give the “clear approximation” of the truth, which is so frequently skewed due to a lack of official recordings on the event. “The Long Winter of 1945: Tivari” is available now in Kosovo.

– Indian cartoonist Ganesh Bhalerao has been hired by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party to try and aid their re-election campaign, providing the party with cartoons that champion Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and belittle opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. Bhalero said cartoons “elicit a huge response” from the public because they can convey “the message of a 500-1,000 word article in just a minute.” The instant engagement with the public, along with the ease of sharing the cartoons further via social media, means that the BJP are not the only ones investing in artists during India’s general election, held from April 11 to May 19: an estimated $26 million will be spent spent on digital advertising for this election, compared to the half-a-million in 2014.

– Artist David López will be joining writer Jordie Bellaire on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” from issue #5 in June. In addition to this announcement, BOOM! also teased that a major character will die in this arc of the book, while another will return. López said he is very “attached” to the character and the TV series, and can “remember watching the show while working on [his] art and comics for years.” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” #5 will be released on June 5.

– Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) will direct the film adaptation of the ’90s comic “Danger Girl.” The comic book follows Abbey Chase as she is recruited into a secret agency, and teamed with Sydney Savage and Natalia Kassle with locating mystical objects to prevent them from falling into the hands of the Hammer Syndicate. Umair Aleem has written the initial drafts of the scripts for the film, which will be rewritten by Wadlow. The film will have three executive producers: Constantin Film’s Martin Moszkowicz, and “Danger Girl” creators J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell. There isn’t a release date for the film at this time.

– Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) is in talks to play Prince Adam/He-Man in Sony’s Masters of the Universe reboot. The new film version of Mattel’s toy/comic line will be directed by Aaron and Adam Nee (Band of Robbers), and filming is set to begin in Prague this July.

Deadline reported that Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack) and Jessica Ellerby (Lovesick) have joined the cast of the upcoming Batman prequel series, Pennyworth. Paetz will be a series regular and play Martha Kane, who will eventually become Martha Wayne, mother of Bruce, while Ellerby will recur in the role of The Queen. Production for the series is currently underway, with a premiere schedule not yet known.

– The trailer and overview for the final episode of Skybound Games’ The Walking Dead: The Final Season have been released. The overview of the episode promises a “dramatic and heart-wrenching climax” to Clementine’s story while the trailer, in addition to giving glimpses at the episode, revealed that the title is “Take Us Back,” and a release date of March 26.
