– Ruben Fleishcer, the director of Zombieland, has been tapped as the director of Sony’s Archer and Armstrong movie. Terry Rossio will write while Jason Brown, Sean Daniel, and Valiant CEO/CCO Dinesh Shamdasani produce.
– Marvel and Sony released three new posters for Spider-Man: Homecoming this weekend. Each poster came with a unique tagline, “Homework can wait. The city can’t,” “Straight A Superhero” and “Quickest way to get home.”
– Fox’s Gifted (or maybe The Gifted) has marked the beginning of production by tweeting out an image or pilot director Bryan Singer and star Amy Acker.
– Marvel has launched a new documentary web series called Marvel’s Playback. The series sees the publisher send a film crew to interview bands and musicians to check out their comic collection and see which titles have influenced their careers. The first episode follows Pat Carney of the Black Keys.
– Image Comics has announced that many of its more popular books will sport an April Fool’s Day variant cover this year. These titles include “Sons of the Devil,” “Curse Words,” “I Hate Fairyland,” and more!
– DC Comics released the last two of its Justice League character teasers Friday, Wonder Woman in the morning and Cyborg in the afternoon. This of course isn’t quite as breaking news as we’ve all seen the Justice League trailer by now.
– Godzilla is headlining his own anime, titled Godzilla: Kaiju Wakusei, which will stream worldwide on Netflix and have a theatrical release date in November. A poster and synopsis have been released.
– J. Torres and Sean Dove’s “Brobots and the Kaiju Kerfuffle” is getting a sequel this August entitled “Brobots and the Mecha Malarky.”
