In case you missed it, we shared an exclusive preview of next week’s “Star Wars” #64, from the creative team of Kieron Gillen, Angel Unzueta, Guru-eFX, and Clayton Cowles.

– The revamped “DC Super Hero Girls” universe continued to expand, as DC announced a new, digital-first series from writer Amanda Deibert and rotating artists Yancey Labat, Agnes Garbowska, and Erich Owen (among others). Titled “DC Super Hero Girls: Weird Science,” the series’s first chapter is available on comiXology and other digital comics services.

– DC also detailed what fans will find within the forthcoming deluxe hardcover edition of “Detective Comics” #1000, which releases on June 12. Newsarama shared that the anniversary issue’s 168-page hardcover edition will include not only all of the original edition’s “Through the Decades” and retailer-exclusive variant covers, but also an original story by writer Robert Venditti and artist Stephen Segovia.

Newsarama also reported that Ben 10 is returning to comics, in this November’s “Ben 10: Mecha Madness.” The new BOOM! Studios graphic novel will focus on Ben’s cousin Gwen, as she fixes up a mecha-suit left lying around by villain Steam Smythe. Of course, by story’s end, Gwen will end up fighting against some of Smythe’s other creations. The book will be written by C.B. Lee and feature art from Lidan Chen (who also illustrated “Ben 10: The Truth Is Out There”).

Dark Horse announced that Bob Burden’s “Flaming Carrot” is receiving the omnibus treatment this September. The 416-page volume will collect “Flaming Carrot” issues 1 – 2, 4 – 11, and 25 – 27, all of which were previously out of print.

– Van Ryder Games revealed the second season of their graphic novel game series, “Graphic Novel Adventures.” ICv2 has the details on the five new volumes, each of which is designed as a chooseable-path adventure puzzle complete with QR code-based clues and tips.

Marvel debuted six new motion comics tied into their Marvel Rising line. The comics feature Ms. Marvel, Patriot, Squirrel Girl, America Chavez, Inferno, and Quake, as well as special appearances by other Marvel characters.

– Friends of special effects stalwart Steve Wright, who worked on both the Star Wars and Harry Potter film franchises, have set up a GoFundMe to help Wright’s family after his passing. You can find that GoFundMe here.

– Netflix has seemingly ordered a second season of The Umbrella Academy, according to ComicBook.com. The site says that a new listing from Production Weekly indicates that season two will likely begin filming this May, under the working title “Mercury.” Netflix has yet to confirm that a second season is on the way.

– And finally, Mark Russell won the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Book for “Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles.” The comic, created by Russell and artist Mike Feehan, reimagined the Hanna-Barbera character as a gay playwright during McCarthyism. You can read the full list of this year’s winners, honoring the best LGBT representation in the media, at Deadline.
