– Via The Beat, Scout Comics have announced “Death Drop: Drag Assassin,” written by David Hazan (“Nottingham”), with art by Alex Moore (“Red Sonja: Black, White, Red”), and lettering from Lucas Gattoni. This five-issue miniseries follows the titular Death Drop, as she hunts for the missing Lunaira Sun at the insistence of their drag mother. Death Drop soon comes face-to-face with “a leather-clad killer bent on revenge.” In a statement, David Hazan said “this is a story by queer people, aimed at the struggles queer people face today… It’s uniquely gratifying to bring a story like this to life, highlighting the healing power of drag at a time when the artform is firmly fixed in the public consciousness.” “Death Drop: Drag Assassin” #1 debuts on June 14, 2023.

– Via a blog post, George R. R. Martin’s Wild Cards universe is set to expand with a new graphic novel, “Wild Cards: Sins of the Father.” Written by Wild Cards editor Melinda M. Snodgrass, and illustrated by Michael Komarck and Elizabeth Leggett, the book is set in a world where, in 1946, an alien virus ravaged Earth, and the population was categorized as Queens (dead), Aces (superpowered), and Jokers (mutated). In the present day, an uninfected human cop, Franny Black, whose father died in 1946, “is given an insidious case and starts uncovering long-buried secrets that his father might have died to protect.” “Wild Cards: Sins of the Father” will be released by Bantam Press on October 23, 2023.

– Via ComicOn.com, The77 Publications will release Ian Gibson’s long-teased sci-fi project “Lifeboat.” Gibson, who co-created “Halo Jones” with Alan Moore, is said to have been finished with the first graphic novel for some time as he was searching for a publisher. Stay tuned for more news, and check out some finished artwork here.

– Via Popverse, ReedPop President Lance Fensterman is stepping down following 17 years with the company. In an interview with Popverse, Fensterman said “We’ve emerged really strongly from the pandemic and the difficult years that period included and as we are positioned for tremendous growth, I was ready to consider what the next chapter of my career could look like, and a very interesting opportunity arose that I’ll share in due time, today is about my wonderful time at ReedPop.” Fensterman began his tenure in 2009 and has since served as New York Comic Con’s show director for many years. He led the company to not only organize annual comic and gaming conventions, but events such as Star Wars Celebration, Star Trek Missions, and E3 2023. ReedPop has not yet disclosed how and when they plan to fill the role of president.

Deadline reports Arty Froushan (House of the Dragon) has been cast in a major role in Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. While details have been kept under wraps, it is believed that Froushan will play Harry, another main character opposite of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. Daredevil: Born Again is currently in production.

– In more casting news, Deadline reports that Matthew Macfadyen (Succession) is the latest addition to Marvel’s Deadpool 3, joining returning star Ryan Reynolds along with Hugh Jackman and Emma Corrin. His role has yet to be announced. The project is the first Deadpool film in which Marvel Studios will work hand in hand with Reynolds and his team, and will be released November 8, 2024.

– Via UPI, Netflix have shared a poster for the upcoming The Chosen One, based on Mark Millar and Peter Gross’s “American Jesus.” The comic follows a 12-year old boy who survives a freak accident and discovers he’s the second coming of Jesus Christ. Fans of the book will notice a setting change, with Millar saying in a statement, “Relocating ‘American’ Jesus to Mexico makes the mythological much more authentic and the apocalyptic all the more real.” You can view the poster here, as well as a previously released teaser.

– Finally, Variety reports that both Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Lower Decks have been renewed for a third and fifth season, respectfully. Each series will feature a 10-episode season. Both shows will premiere a new season this summer, with Strange New Worlds‘s second season streaming on Paramount+ from June 15, 2023, and Lower Decks season four debuting later this summer. In addition to that, season two of Nickelodeon’s Star Trek: Prodigy will premiere this coming winter.
