– IDW announced the third chapter of Walter Simonson’s “Ragnarök” epic, “The Breaking of Helheim.” The six-issue series will, of course, be written and illustrated by Simonson, with a variant edition of issue #1 featuring a collaboration between Simonson and Stan Sakai (“Usagi Yojimbo”) that will span the first issues of both creator’s comics.
– “Batman” writer Tom King teased some uncolored cover art by Tony Daniel for “Batman” #75 on Twitter yesterday: he also revealed that the issue will kick off an 8-part event epic, ‘City of Bane.’
– Writer and artist Erik Larsen announced he’s working for Marvel again after 17 years. Larsen revealed on Twitter that he has three small projects in the works totaling 41 pages, and though he would not reveal what the projects are, he did tease that the lead characters were created before he was born in 1962.
– DC unveiled a new “Detective Comics” logo over the weekend, designed by Ken Lopez. The old logo, which has been in place since 2003, will be no more beginning on April 10 with the release of “Detective Comics” #1001.
– Sylvia De Fanti (Medici, The Best Offer) has been cast in Netflix’s upcoming series Warrior Nun, based on the American manga by Ben Dunn. She will play Mother Superion, the woman responsible for training the Warrior Nuns, an ancient order tasked with fighting demons on Earth.
– Emily Bett Rickards announced she’s leaving Arrow ahead of the eighth and final season. Rickards has played Felicity Smoak on the CW show since it debuted in 2012.
– Marc Hammond has joined AfterShock Comics as Senior Retail Sales Development Manager. He will focus on managing retailer communications, driving in-store promotions and sales, and representing AfterShock at trade shows and events.
– Finally, writer and artist Lauren McCubbin was promoted to Associate Professor at the Columbus College of Art & Design where she has taught the Comics & Narrative Practice program since 2013. Outside of academia, McCubbin is the editor of Image Comics’ “Moonstruck.”
