In case you missed it, Alex de Campi and Robert Hack are bringing revenge to Riverdale in “Archie vs Predator 2,” and Dark Horse canceled “Astro Hustle” following allegations about writer Jai Nitz. We interviewed Cecil Castellucci about “Female Furies,” and we have an exclusive preview of next week’s “Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor” #6.

– Cartoonist/historian Trina Robbins is currently working on a biography of comics pioneer and “Mopsy” creator, Gladys Parker. Gladys Parker: A Life in Comics and a Passion for Fashion will be a 256-page hardcover book, and will follow Parker on her journey from “Gay and her Gang” and “Flapper Fanny,” to the launch of “Mopsy” and Parker’s establishment as a fashion designer.

– American rock band Green Day has announced a book titled The Last of the American Girls. The book will be illustrated by cartoonist Frank Caruso, and is as “an inspiring homage and handbook for the rebellious everywoman who refuses to capitulate.” The Last of the American Girls will be released October 29th, 2019.

– BOOM! Studios have issued a full series order for Greg Pak (“Firefly”) and Giannis Milonogiannis’s (“Robotech”) series, “Ronin Island.” The series centers on a small island where, after a massive attack devastates 19th century China, Japan, and Korea, survivors from all three lands have converged and formed a new society. Originally solicited for a five-issue run, “Ronin Island” will now run for a full twelve-issues.

– Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane announced via his Instagram that fellow co-founder and current DC Comics CCO Jim Lee will return to Image for the milestone issue “Spawn” #300. McFarlane spared details regarding Lee’s involvement with the issue, but in the past, Lee has drawn variant covers for “Spawn” milestone issues #150 and #200.

– The nominees for 2019’s Hugo Awards have been announced. “Abbott,” “Black Panther: Long Live the King,” “Monstress,” “On a Sunbeam,” “Paper Girls” and “Saga” were all nominated for Best Graphic Story, and Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse were nominated for Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form. You can read the full list of nominees here.

– Archie Comics’ Chief Creative Officer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, has signed a 5-year deal with Warner Bros. Television. Aguirre-Sacasa will reportedly continue his duties as executive producer/showrunner for Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, while also producing new series.

– The live-action adaptation of “Akira” will reportedly film, in its entirety, in California. The Leonardo DiCaprio-produced film will receive an $18.5 million tax credit and will film over the course of 71 days.

– British actor Samson Kayo (Timewasters, Famalam) will make his Hollywood debut in Fox’s Mouse Guard movie, based on David Petersen’s BOOM!/Archaia series. The BAFTA-nominated actor will play Saxon, a member of the guard who has “a fiery temperament and an inclination for melodrama.”

– In preparation for tomorrow’s season 2 premiere of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, Marvel Comics and Freeform have teamed with a handful of comic artists to create exclusive art for each episode of the show. The first two pieces, from Phil Noto (“Daredevil”) and Khary Randolph (“Spider-Geddon Handbook”), can be viewed here.

– Finally, cartoonist Annah Feinberg is developing an animated sitcom for Showtime. Titled Multifarious Maris, the series follows the titular Maris as she discovers that, after drinking enough wine, she can travel to various diverging moments of her life in other universes. The show will be produced by ShadowMachine, the animation company on BoJack Horseman.
