– Marvel’s upcoming Cloak and Dagger series on the Freeform network was elaborated on by Disney executive, Mark Endemano, who explained that the show "is about character and emotion above all. It tells of a romance between Tandy and Tyrone in a way that we haven’t really seen before in a Marvel TV series." While Karey Burke, executive at Freeform, described the young adult-skewed story as an "angst filled achingly beautiful heartfelt romantic drama" during an interview alongside yesterday’s announcement of a New Warriors series (featuring Squirrel Girl) which will air on the same network. The ten-episode Cloak and Dagger is expected to release in winter 2018.
– Chris Evans’ potential departure from the MCU is becoming more real by the day, with the recent USA Today interview confirming that his contract with Marvel Studios ends after Avengers 4 (May 3, 2019), and that there are no present plans to renew it. This loss is inevitable for all stars in franchises as big as these, but Evans specifically predicts Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Hiddleston as the next actors to walk away from their iconic roles.
– Zack Snyder’s Justice League will see the league defending Earth against an alien invasion led by Jack Kirby’s own Steppenwolf, one of the New Gods, and it was revealed that he will be played by Ciaran Hinds – Game of Thrones’ Mance Rayder – and that the character will appear mostly as a computer-generated creation. The movie debuts November 17.
– In more Marvel news, Gazillion Entertainment has announced Marvel Heroes Omega an action-RPG and MMO hybrid that features "one of the largest rosters of playable Heroes that pulls from all corners of the Marvel Universe." Expect the latest and greatest MCU heroes (38 lined up so far), locations, villains and more. Experience the free-to-play nine-chapter story campaign on both PS4 and Xbox One this spring. All heroes will be freely playable until level 10, at which point you will have to spend Eternity Splinters to unlock more. – Stephen Amell, the leading star who puts the Green in CW’s Arrow, has officially announced that he will be appearing on the Celeb Edition of American Ninja Warrior to compete against other stars. He’ll be paired with accomplished ninja, Kacy Catanzaro, to help coach him through the process. The special will air Thursday, May 25 at 8/7c on NBC as part of their Red Nose Day programming.
– Mad Magazine announces "Mad About Trump," a 128-page collection of satirical Trump cartoons and parodies that will be published by DC Comics. It retails this June for $12.99 and is introduced by CNN’s Jake Tapper.
– Finally, in a move I might consider the healthiest decision a controversial creator could possibly make, Mark Waid has deleted his Twitter account. He can always come back, and I believe he has 30 days to reactivate that specific account, but I wish him the best during his social media purge. The action was taken following some drama over a David Gabriel interview on Marvel sales and diversity, sparking a social media outrage that Waid vehemently took part in. He had also engaged in a heated rant about suing a foreign website for libel. Just another day on Twitter, really.
