– Italian comic book illustrator Milo Manara paid special homage to the heroic women who are fighting every day against the coronavirus, by illustrating nurses, doctors, and even supermarket cashiers in scenes that reflect the current issues. Manara had been stressed with his own workload during the early days of his quarantine until he thought of the perfect way to send a thank you to all the heroes of the pandemic. He stated that he “wanted to make them feel less forgotten.”

– Brendan Columbus, son of writer/director Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Gremlins), is making his writing debut in the pages of iconic magazine, Heavy Metal, with his comic “Savage Circus.” Columbus will team up with artist Al Barrionuevo (“Batman: Hush Returns”) to tell the unfortunate tale of the fictional Basin Bay, “a town set upon by the most dangerous animals in the world.” The first part of the comic will appear in Heavy Metal‘s 300th issue, out this summer. The story will then continue through issue #309 before being collected into a graphic novel and sold separately. Columbus has stated that the plan is to have the graphic novel out by San Diego Comic-Con 2021.

– YA author Claudia Gray, known for her Star Wars novels and Evernight series, is coming to DC next January to share her vision of the destruction of Krypton. She is teaming up with artist Eric Zawadzki for “House of El,” a three-part young adult graphic novel series. The series explores life on Krypton through the eyes of two teenagers, Zahn and Sera, as they work together to investigate the dangers that threaten their planet. The first installment of the series debuts January 5, 2021.

– Irvine Welsh, author of the acclaimed novel Trainspotting, has written an introduction to Dark Horse’s “Fight Club 3” collected edition, and it has debuted exclusively online. The hardcover of “Fight Club 3,” by Chuck Palahniuk and artist Cameron Stewart, collects a year’s worth of comics and will be available for purchase next week.

– DC’s digital subscription service, DC Universe, has launched a new series titled, DC Daily Comic Book Club, which explores top comic books collected on the digital library. The series consists of 10 episodes which are all available now on DC Universe, and are accessible without a paid subscription. DC Universe will also be holding live Q&A sessions with special guests throughout the month, also accessible without a paid subscription.

– IDW Publishing has announced that all of their products they had planned to sell exclusively at the postponed WonderCon 2020, will be available in a special sale that includes free domestic shipping and buy-two-get-one-free deals. The sale is available to anyone, even if they had not been planning to attend the con. The sale includes a signed “Canto” TP, “Judge Dredd: False Witness” #1, “Locke & Key” #1 Special Con Edition, “Sonic the Hedgehog” #27 and more.

– Mike Mignola has launched another eBay auction of original art, which includes a collaboration with Eric Powell. 100% of the proceeds will once again be going towards Chef José Andrés’s WC Kitchen.

– Writer and artist Sachi Ediriweera has released a free, four-page short comic titled “ERIK” on Twitter, which features fan-favorite X-Men character, Magneto.

– Finally, the return of Supergirl has been pushed back after the show’s production was suspended due to the coronavirus. Originally set to return on April 26, The CW have announced that the next episode has been pushed back a week to Sunday, May 3 at 9 pm ET/PT. The rest of The CW’s return schedule remains unaffected.
