In case you missed it, DC announced “Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor” and “World’s Finest: Teen Titans,” while Dark Horse revealed “Panya: The Mummy’s Curse,” and “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: 1957 — From Below.”

– Webtoon will launch “Assassin’s Creed: Forgotten Temple,” a weekly digital series created in collaboration with Ubisoft and South Korea’s Redice Studio. The series will follow reformed pirate Edward Kenway after the events of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag in 1722, as he scours Southeast Asia for Pieces of Eden, as well as Noa, Edward’s present day Korean American descendant. It will run for a total of 150 episodes, which will be divided into three seasons, with the first six episodes releasing on Monday, April 24, at 5pm PT.

– BOOM! Studios will release a print version of Joanne Starer, Khary Randolph, and Deron Bennett’s Substack series “Sirens of the City.” An urban fantasy set in New York during the ’80s, “Sirens” follows teen runaway Layla as she seeks an abortion, while supernatural creatures descend on the city, vying for control of her and her unwanted child. (“It was supposed to be a metaphor. I guess it’s not anymore,” Starer comments in the press release.) Issue #1 will be released in July.

– AWA unveiled Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows’s upcoming horror series “The Ribbon Queen,” which will run for eight issues beginning July 26, 2023. The series, announced back in February, follows NYPD detective Amy Sun in the aftermath of 2020’s Black Lives Matter protests, as she discovers something is hunting the corrupt cops around her. “Detective Sun is about to come face to face with an ancient and monstrous force that has been turned loose on the world of abusive men,” says the synopsis. “The Ribbon Queen is here for vengeance, and she’s got ten thousand years’ worth of scores to settle.”

– Following the decision to add Discovery+ programming to HBO Max, Warner Bros. Discovery have announced the latter subscription service will be rebranded simply as Max on Tuesday, May 23. HBO Max subscribers will be able to migrate to the new service, for the same price as their previous subscription (ranging from $9.99 to $19.99). As part of the announcement presentation, Warner Bros. released an in-production trailer for The Penguin (containing onscreen and behind-the-scenes footage), the Colin Farrell Batman spin-off premiering on Max next year.

– In more Max news, James Gunn and Collider revealed the voice cast of next year’s animated DC series Creature Commandos. Frank Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr., while Indira Varma will portray series lead the Bride of Frankenstein, and David Harbour will voice her male counterpart Eric Frankenstein. It will also have Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorous, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Zoe Chao as scientist Nina Mazursky, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Sean Gunn, who will pull double duty as Weasel and G.I. Robot. As stated by Gunn during the initial announcement of DC Studios’ Chapter 1, all of these actors could reprise their roles in eventual live-action projects too.

Deadline reports Mia Goth has been cast in Marvel Studios’ Blade reboot. It is unknown who the British actress — who broke through over the past year with her acclaimed turns in horror films X, Pearl, and Infinity Pool — would play, although she would undoubtedly make for a terrifying villain. The new Blade movie, directed by Yann Demange and starring Mahershala Ali, Delroy Lindo, and Aaron Pierre, will be released on September 6, 2024.

Deadline also reported Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic will return as Vanessa and Colossus in Deadpool 3. While Vanessa, Wade Wilson’s fiancé, was killed at the start of the second film, she will return thanks to his time-travel shenanigans during the end credits. Deadpool 3, which will also see the return of Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Karan Soni, and Leslie Uggams, plus the addition of new cast members Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen, will be released on November 8, 2024.

– Furthermore, Deadline revealed Nicki Minaj will star in and executive produce the animated Amazon Freevee series Lady Danger, based on a comic by Alex de Campi, Afua Richardson, Mulele Jarvis, and Marissa Louise (originally featured in Dark Horse’s 2014-15 anthology “Grindhouse: Drive In, Bleed Out.”) Set in 2075, the series follows a government agent who is betrayed and left for dead, only to be revived as Lady Danger, Agent of B.O.O.T.I (Bureau of Organized Terrorism Intervention). The show, which is also being produced by 50 Cent, was written by Carlton Jordan and Crystle Roberson, and will be animated by Starburns Industries.
