In case you missed it, Thomas Sniegoski, Jeannine Acheson, and Valeria Burzo are teaming up for “Soul Taker” at Mad Cave Studios. We also had an exclusive first look at July’s ‘Blood Hunt’ tie-in “Vengeance of the Moon Knight” #7.

– “The Nice House on the Lake” is getting a 12-issue sequel, “The Nice House by the Sea.” James Tynion IV, Álvaro Martínez Bueno, Jordie Bellaire and Andworld Design will reunite on the DC Black Label series, which, like the first installment, will follow ten strangers, who embody “the best and brightest of humanity,” after they’re invited to live at the titular house by the mysterious Max. Issue #1 of the 17+ rated horror series will be released on Wednesday, July 24, with a main cover by Bueno, as well as variants by Nick Robles, Hayden Sherman, and Dani.

– BOOM! Studios will publish “The Graveyard Club,” a young adult graphic novel series by writer R.L. Stine and artist Carola Borelli (“Spider-Woman”). Set in Graves End, a sleepy town where the teens have nothing better to do than run amok in its many cemeteries, the book follows student Parker West, who “pulls what seems like a harmless prank.” However, “he may be putting his friends in more danger than he could [ever] imagine.” The first installment will be released in bookstores on September 17, and comics shops the following day. It marks Stine’s third series at BOOM!, following the middle-grade “Just Beyond,” and the adult-aimed “Stuff of Nightmares.”

– Marvel revealed a new ongoing “Werewolf by Night” series, written by Jason Loo with art by Sergio Dávila. Spinning out of July’s “Werewolf by Night: Blood Hunt” one-shot, also written by Loo, it will find Jack Russell’s recent attempts at a simple life going south thanks to the crossover – though fortunately, Elsa Bloodstone will be around to keep an eye on him. It marks the first “Werewolf by Night” ongoing since the original 1972-77 run. Like certain copies of “Blood Hunt,” the series will be a Red Band title, published in polybagged copies because of its gorier-than-usual content. Issue #1 will be released on August 14 with a cover by E.M. Gist.

– The House of Ideas also announced a new Elektra miniseries, “Daredevil: Woman Without Fear,” which will reunite Erica Schultz (“Daredevil: Gang War)” and Michael Dowling (“Hallows’ Eve”). The book will be set up by July’s “Daredevil” #11 (by Saladin Ahmed and Aaron Kuder), and see Elektra/Daredevil head to Madripoor to take on Crossbones, new Punisher Joe Garrison, and more threats targeting her and Matt Murdock’s loved ones. Issue #1 (of 4) will be released on July 17, a week after “Daredevil” #11.

– Furthermore, Marvel and Viz Media have launched a cross-promotion to celebrate the addition of Shueisha’s Marvel titles to the Viz Manga subscription service. Until May 16, 2024, Viz Manga and Marvel Unlimited readers in the United States will be able to unlock gift subscriptions to the respective other platform. (Ironically, the announcement came amidst Viz Manga’s launch in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.) Marvel titles now available on Viz Manga include “Deadpool Samurai,” “X-Men: The Manga,” and the late “Yu-Gi-Oh!” creator Kazuki Takahashi’s Iron Man/Spider-Man story “Secret Reverse.”

– In casting news, prolific Emmy Award-winning character actor Pruitt Taylor Vince (The Mentalist) will reportedly play Jonathan “Pa” Kent in James Gunn’s Superman. It will mark the 63-year old’s second DC film role, after Father Hennessey in Constantine. Meanwhile, Steve Buscemi will play the new principal of Nevermore Academy in Wednesday season two. The role will reunite him with executive producer Tim Burton, who directed him in Big Fish. Filming on the second season is expected to finally begin this month.

– Skybound and Wattpad Webtoon Studios are developing a film version of the latter’s paranormal webcomic “Freaking Romance.” Created by Aidyn Arroyal, aka Snailords, the 2018 series follows a young woman who can only afford a supposedly haunted apartment. After moving in, she discovers the ghost is actually a man from another dimension, and soon, a love that knows no bounds so unfolds. Rising spec script writers Matthew Kic and Mike Sorce will pen the screenplay. In the meantime, a second print volume of the comic will be released on June 4, 2024.

– Speaking of Webtoon, Popverse reports Ngozi Ukazu has begun uploading her hit sports romance comic “Check, Please!” to the platform. Originally self-published before receiving a print release from First Second in the wake of a highly successful crowdfunding campaign, “Check, Please!” follows Eric, a vlogger and former junior figure skating champion, who becomes a college hockey player. As his first year unfolds, he begins to fall for Jack, his moody team captain. New chapters will be added every Friday, at 4pm ET.

– Via an interview with Newsarama, it was announced Scott Snyder, Jack Snyder, and Valeria Favoccia’s comiXology series “By A Thread” will be released in print by Dark Horse in bookstores on December 17, and comic shops the following day. The four-part dystopian sci-fi series, which concludes digitally later this month, follows a group of teens in a future where a mysterious liquid consumed the planet’s surface, and humanity now lives in “needles” high above the ground. For more details on the series’ physical edition, head to Dark Horse.

– Finally, Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios have both denied claims that Kevin Feige directly ordered Ms. Marvel to be killed off in the comics last year. The apparent misunderstanding arose after an episode of the Amazing Spider-Talk podcast, where Cody Ziglar said, “It was funny watching when the whole Kamala [Khan] stuff was going down. [Zeb Wells] had told me months before the plan, which was, Feige was like, ‘Hey, I don’t do this very often but, can you please do this to make things in line with Marvel because we have some stuff we want to do with Kamala,’ so he was like, ‘F***, I’m the guy that drew the short straw? People are going to be very mad that I have to kill Ms. Marvel.’” Marvel told io9 the decision to kill Kamala and resurrect her as a mutant, thereby bringing her in-line with her MCU counterpart, was “an explicitly editorial decision, one in the making well before the events of ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ #26.”
