– Marvel Studios opened its doors to a select group of journalists for a preview of Phase Three of the cinematic universe. The journalists were treated to footage of Black Panther, concept art of Captain Marvel, and Ant-Man and The Wasp costumes, and much more. There were many stories broken there, as well such as confirmation that Spider-Man will be in Avengers 4 and news that Batgirl director Joss Whedon called to tell Marvel Studios Boss Kevin Feige about his new gig.
– The first teaser for Kingsman: The Golden Circle has been released today, sporting everything from looks at Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges, to a The Big Lebowski reference. While the teaser is brief, it packs in quite a bit of footage and promises the arrival of a full trailer within the next week.
– Disney and IDW have announced the launch of both a “Duck Tales” ongoing series and a Tangled OGN called “Tangled: Adventure is Calling.” Duck Tales is no stranger to comics, and this marks the second Tangled comic, after the “Cinestory” books published by Disney Books a few years ago. No creators were announced for either series.
– Marguerite Bennett’s AfterShock creator owned series “Animosity” has a one-shot story that is no longer a one-shot; it’s a three-shot! “Animosity: The Rise” is being expanded to a three part story. Juan Doe will return for the second issue as well.
– Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will include five post-credit scenes. Four were shown at a special press-screening, and when that number was reported, director James Gunn was quick to correct it via Twitter.
– The teaser trailer for DC’s Superman prequel series Krypton has made its way online today. The show will follow the House of El as they “lead a revolution against tyranny” on the titular planet Krypton. It is worth noting that the show hasn’t officially been picked up by Syfy yet.
– While the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to do nothing but growing, its counterpart in the comic universe isn’t quite fairing as well. It’s been confirmed that “Star-Lord” will be coming to an end with the conclusion of ‘The Grounded’ storyline in issue #6. On top of that, “Nova” has also been canceled with issue #7.
– Actor Ewan McGregor has expressed interest in reprising the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in a Star Wars Anthology film. McGregor told Entertainment Weekly, “There’s no official offer, and I haven’t met them about it or anything. But I’ve always said that I’d be happy to do it if they wanted to do it. It would be a good segue between the last episode of the prequels and the new episodes.”
