In case you missed it, Marvel have announced that “The Punisher” will be relaunched with a brand new issue one in August. Writer Matthew Rosenberg will continue his run with Riccardo Burchielli (“DMZ”) taking over on art duties. We also interviewed Patrick Gleason about “Action Comics” #1000, and the end of his “Superman” run.

– Marvel also released an interview with writer Dan Slott (“Silver Surfer”) and Editor in Chief C. B. Cebulski, with more details on Slott’s upcoming Fantastic Four series with artist Sara Pichelli (“Spider-Man”). Slott revealed vague details about Dr. Doom’s future in the book after the events of “Infamous Iron Man.” It also seems like we’ll see the return of Franklin and Valeria RIchards, though from the image released, they appear to have aged. “Fantastic Four” #1 will hit shelves on August 1, 2018.

– Bleeding Cool reports that some of Image’s late books that had been ordered by retailers have been cancelled and will be resolicited at a later date, with the earliest being in August. “Southern Cross” #15 & #16 by Becky Cloonan, Andy Belanger, and Lee Loughridge, “Fix” by Nick Spencer, Ryan Hill, and Steve Lieber, as well as “They’re Not Like Us” by Eric Stephenson, Jordie Bellaire, Fonographiks and Simon Gane are among the books to be affected. You can see the full list here.

– Deadline reports that Syfy has picked up Deadly Class, based on Rick Remender and Wes Craig’s highly acclaimed comic series. If that wasn’t enough to get fans excited Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo will be producing the series alongside Remender and Miles Orion Feldsott, in conjunction with Sony Pictures TV and Universal Cable Productions.

– According to Newsarama the creators of “Infidel” will be holding a special raffle in order to get to know their readership better. All fans need to do is take a selfie with “Infidel” #2 in front of their local comic book store, email it to InfidelComicMail@gmail.com., and they’re entered to win a piece of original art. “Infidel” #2 is written by Pornsak Pichetshote with art by Aaron Campbell and Jose Villarrubia, and is on sale now.

– Eisner Award-winner Daniel Clowes tweeted a previously unpublished “Superman” comic strip according to CBR. This coincides with Superman’s 80th anniversary and the monumental “Action Comics” #1000. Clowes released the comic strip last Saturday, which happened to be his birthday as well.

– The nominations for the Doug Wright Awards, which honor the most promising talent in Canadian comics, were announced. You can read the full list at Newsarama, and the winners will be announced at the ceremony at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival on May 12. In other awards news, Charlie Hebdo cartoonist Laurent “Riss” Sourisseau received a Free Expression Award from Washington D.C.’s Newseum, which you can read a press release about here.

– Vulture published a robust interview with Trina Robbins, who in 1970, joined Barbara Mendes to create the first all-women comic book, “It Ain’t Me Babe Comix.” Robbins sets the record straight, correcting people who say “It Ain’t Me Babe Comix” is one of the first all-women comics. “It’s the f***ing first” she says. We also interviewed Robbins in 2016 and examined her work on “Dope.” Make sure to check it out and learn more about this trailblazing woman.

– Speaking of trailblazing women, Lynda Carter, who recently received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, has reportedly confirmed she’s in talks to have some kind of role in Patty Jenkins’s Wonder Woman sequel. Head over to Digital Spy to get the full scoop.

– And finally, according to Deadline, Common, James Badge Dale and Domhnall Gleeson are set to join New Line’s The Kitchen, based on Vertigo’s comic book series written by Ollie Masters with art by Ming Doyle and Becky Cloonan. The cast already includes Tiffany Haddish, Elisabeth Moss and Melissa McCarthy in a crime drama that follows the wives of Irish mobsters during the ’70s. Andrea Berloff will make her directorial debut and the film is set to be released on September 20, 2019.
