– Via AIPT, Dark Horse will publish a new graphic novel from Emily McGovern, creator of “Bloodlust & Bonnets” and the webcomic “My Life as a Background Slytherin.” Her new book, “Twelve Percent Dread,” follows three friends – the job-hopping Katie, the artist Nas, and the seemingly well-balanced tech employee Emma. When Katie takes a job tutoring the daughter of Emma’s boss, and Emma welcomes a new “eccentric and enigmatic” member to her team at work, the three women’s lives change forever. Billed as “a fast-paced, hilarious graphic novel about friendship, capitalism, and never putting your phone away away,” “Twelve Percent Dread” hits comic shelves on August 3.

– Last year’s DC Round Robin semi-finalist “Blue Beetle: Graduation Day” will be getting a release after all. Via CBR, the pitch from Josh Trujillo and Adrián Gutierréz was one of the runners-up from last year’s inaugural tournament, which pitted a series of pitches against each other for a fan vote, with the winner getting a full release. Editors had hinted that previously defeated pitches might still have a chance of release, which was confirmed by DC editors during a Q&A session on the DC Universe forums. The editors also confirmed that several of the story ideas that have already fallen in this year’s tournament would be published as six-page short stories in “DC Round Robin 2022,” those titles being “Hawkman & Hawkwoman: The Changeling,” “Kid Flash: The Speed of Fear,” “DC Horror Presents: Ghost Tour from Hell,” and “Green Lantern: The Birth of Conspiracy.” “Blue Beetle: Graduation Day” finds a directionless Jaime Reyes being mentored by Starfire, as he’s caught between his career as a hero and his future. No official release date or format has yet been announced for the series.

– After a long delay, Marvel have finally set “Predator” #1 for release. Via AIPT, the series, originally solicited back in June 2021, was delayed due to a lawsuit by John and James Thomas, the screenwriters of the original 1987 film, who sought to reclaim the copyright to their script. That lawsuit was settled back in January of this year, allowing work on the comic to resume. The solicitation for the series, which comes from writer Ed Brisson and artist Kev Walker, follows a woman named Theta, who watched a Predator murder her parents as a young girl, sparking a lifelong obsession with tracking and killing the monster that killed her family. “Predator” #1 debuts on July 6.

– Archie Comics is set to introduce a new queer character to Riverdale just in time for Pride Month. Via The New York Times, the biracial character Eliza Han, created by Tee Franklin and Dan Parent, will debut in a short story in “Archie & Friends Summer Lovin.” The story will find Eliza meeting the Riverdale gang, as she competes with Reggie Mantle for the affections of Harper Lodge, Veronica’s cousin. “Archie & Friends Summer Lovin” #1 sees the sunshine on June 8.

– Mad Cave Studios is publishing the new graphic novel “In the Shadow of the Throne” via their young adult imprint Maverick. Via The Beat, the book comes from writer Kate Sheridan, artist Gaia Cardinali, letterer Micah Myers, and editor Michael Moccio, and follows a teenager who is transported to another world for a fantasy adventure. That adventure becomes more complicated when Prince Astel and Sir Griffith “uncover a sinister secret kept hidden by the Queen, that’ll thrust Jordan in the middle of a magical battle he never could have anticipated.” “In the Shadow of the Throne” arrives on August 30.

– For fans of the dearly departed DuckTales reboot, which was cancelled last year, Dark Horse will release a new art book featuring concept art, behind-the-scenes materials, and creator commentary. Via IGN, The Art of DuckTales features interviews with developers Matt Youngberg, Francisco Angones, Sean Jimenez and Suzanna Olson, as well as cast members David Tennant (Scrooge McDuck), Danny Pudi (Huey), Ben Schwartz (Dewey), Bobby Moynihan (Louie), Kate Micucci (Webby), Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack), Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley), Paget Brewster (Della Duck), and Don Cheadle (Donald Duck). The book will be available in a standard and a deluxe edition, with the latter featuring a gold foil cover, slipcase, a replica of Scrooge’s lucky dime, and expanded versions of the cast and crew interviews in the form of The DuckTales Guidebook. The Art of DuckTales will either solve a mystery or rewrite history on September 21.

– Michael Sarnoski, director of last year’s critically acclaimed Nicolas Cage film Pig, will write and direct an adaptation of Nick Drnaso’s graphic novel “Sabrina” for New Regency and RT Features. Via Deadline, Drnaso’s book, originally published by Drawn & Quarterly, follows a man who goes to live with his old friend after his girlfriend goes missing. After a grisly videotape featuring his girlfriend goes viral, the two men are “targeted by vitriolic conspiracy theorists that threaten their sense of the truth and their faith in each other.” Sarnoski will take up the project after first directing a spin-off of the horror franchise A Quiet Place for Paramount.

– Via IGN, the original voice cast of the 1987 cartoon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will return for the upcoming video game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Cam Clarke will reprise his role as Leonardo, alongside Townsend Coleman as Michelangelo, Barry Gordon as Donatello, and Rob Paulsen as Raphael. The casting makes sense given the game’s aesthetic, which is based on Konami’s original arcade games that were themselves based on the TMNT animated series. IGN also showed off the first two stages of the game via an 11-minute gameplay video, which you can check out here. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is set to release this summer.

– Finally, actor Robert Morse has passed away at the age of 90. Via Variety, the actor was a Broadway and Hollywood star who was most active in the ’60s, earning the most acclaim for his Tony Award-winning portrayal of J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and its subsequent film adaptation. Morse had a late career revival as a cast member on the AMC series Mad Men, for which he received five Emmy nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, and won a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the Ensemble in 2011. A prolific guest voice actor throughout his career, one of his most significant recent roles was on Teen Titans Go!, on which he played Santa Claus as a recurring antagonist. His final film role was in Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans in 2019. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Roberts and his five children.
