– Dark Horse have announced “Birdking” Vol. 3, written by Daniel Freedman and illustrated by CROM. This dark fantasy series picks up right where it left off, with Bianca and Birdking in trouble as Birdking is still out of commission, and Bianca’s friends are all but gone. When she finally arrives in the gold city of Atlas, she risks losing herself as she eagerly rushes to pay her debt. “Birdking” Vol. 3 will be available in bookstores on November 26, 2024, and in comics shops the following day.
– Rebellion have announced a new romance comic anthology: “Roxy.” The anthology features stories from Alex de Campi and Erica Henderson, Sarah Gordon, Magdalene Visaggio and Sterric, and Nadia Shammas and Jaws Stone. The original “Roxy” was first published in 1958 and ran for 288 issues across Britain. The new version will launch on Kickstarter with a bevvy of rewards on June 3, 2024.
– Via Broken Frontier, Black Josei Press have announced that the publisher will be taking an indefinite hiatus beginning in January 2025. Black Josei Press was founded in 2018 and has mainly focused on “celebrating comics by and for people of color from marginalized genders and sexualities.” Jamila Rowser, the imprint’s founder, cited health issues as one of the primary reasons for the hiatus. In the meantime, the publisher will focus on the Black Josei Press Hiatus Tour at various conventions. You can see which conventions BJP will table at here.
– Via Entertainment Weekly, Bloomsberry have revealed Alan Moore’s new novel, The Great When. The first book in a planned series dubbed the Long London quintet, will explore the hidden histories below the surface among London’s working class. When discussing the plot, Moore says “it isn’t only London that’s examined here, but also London’s progress through our previous eventful century, from the smoking rubble following the last World War to the precarious cliff-edge of the new millennium.” The Great When will debut in the U.S. on October 1, 2024.
– Via Popverse, Senbla and its parent company Sony are launching a a national tour titled Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Live in Concert this September. Following in the footsteps of Into the Spider-Verse‘s music tour, the concert will show scenes from the film projected onto a giant HD screen while a live orchestra, DJ, and electronic instrumentalists perform the soundtrack. The concert will officially debut in London on June 30, 2024, and begin its 50-city tour in Nashville, TN on September 1, 2024.
– Via ComicBook.com, Studio Ghibli have announced that The Boy and the Heron will be available on all major on-demand platforms starting on June 25. The Oscar winning film will then be released on Blu-ray/DVD and in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray/DVD on July 9, 2024, with plenty of special features, including storyboards and interviews. The 4K editions will feature Dolby Vision plus Dolby Atmos, and all versions will include the original Japanese language with English subtitles as well as the English dub featuring the powerhouse cast of Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, Karen Fukuhara, Mark Hamill, Robert Pattinson and Florence Pugh.
