-After the announcement on Sunday that George Perez (“Wonder Woman,” “The New Teen Titans”) would not be attending East Coast Comic Con due to health issues which required a trip to the hospital many fans were distraught. However on Sunday reliable sources stated that Perez was “feeling much better and is in good spirits.” While very little is known about the specifics of the trip we all wish Mr. Perez a speedy recovery.
-In an interview with the Washington Post, “Saga” co-creator and writer Brian K Vaughan let it be know that he and artist Fiona Staple still have a long road ahead before they reach the end of their romantic space opera. Despite the pair having an ending in mind they are “not even halfway there yet” said Vaughan. “Saga” #43 comes out May 31rst and will begin the next arc of the story.
-Speaking at a tweeted for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Marvel Cinematic Universe mastermind Kevin Feige teased that we haven’t seen the last of Howard the Duck. Howard famously made his MCU debut in the Guardians of the Galaxy‘s post-credits scene, voiced by Seth Green (Robot Chicken), and is slated for another cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which debuts this Friday.
-While NBC has pulled the last two episodes of Powerless producer Patrick Schumacker tweeted last Thursday that the show was “not officially canceled yet.” If aired Powerless’s finale would feature an evil President Lex Luthor and a corporate takeover by Lexcorp.
-Stan Lee was photographed on the set of the upcoming FOX produced X-Men TV series, shooting his cameo for the series pilot. The pilot is being directed by Bryan Singer (Superman Returns, X-Men). The series is currently working under the title Gifted
-In a photo tweeted by the NBC, USA skier Mikaela Shiffrin can be seen wearing a ski uniform inspired by Jamie McKelvie’s Captain Marvel costume design for Marvel Comics. Marvel and the US ski team had previously announced that all of their members would be sporting Marvel themed uniforms during the 2018 Winter Olympics.
-Marvel has launched a new Color Your Own app which lets you color the pages of iconic Marvel comic books. The app, which was made possible by a collaboration with the company Pixite, will update weekly with new pages from “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Civil War,” “Doctor Strange,” and many others. There is also a subscription version of the app offered with a larger selection of “premium” pages and more advanced tools and washes.
-Lotus Entertainment and Paperchase Films have announced a film adaption of Rick Bowers 2012 nonfiction book Superman Versus the Klu Klux Klan is in the works. The book documents the true story of how a former member of the infamous hate group infiltrated their ranks in order to feed information to the Anti-Defamation League as well as the writers of “The Adventures of Superman” radio show. Using the information in their 1946 play titled ‘Clan of the Fiery Cross’ Superman helped to demystify many of the inner workings of the Klan and fought the forces of hate.
-According to Time Warner chief marketing officer Kristen O’Hara the ongoing and somewhat sparse marketing campaignfor the summer release of Wonder Woman was informed by their experience in marketing Supergirl. Wonder Woman can been seen in theaters when it opens June 3rd, 2017
-During a panel at Planet Wondercon in Kansas City John Barrowman(Doctor Who, Torchwood) informed fans that he would not be returning to the Arrowverse next season. Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn has been a mainstay Arrow villain since the show began and has appeared in Flash and was prominently featured in this season of
-Top Cow Productions, partner company of Image comics will once again be holding a talent hunt to find two writers and artists to work on their comics. Submissions from one writer and one artist to be chosen to illustrate one of Top Cow Productions titles, with a pair of runner ups producing a short story for the company. Final submissions for the event are due December 12, 2017, more information and a set of rules can be found here
