In case you missed it, DC announced the name of their upcoming streaming service, as well as a new Swamp Thing TV series. We also published a C2E2 interview with Christopher Priest and Carlo Pagulayan, in which the creators talked about ‘Deathstroke vs. Batman.’
– Box Brown’s (“Andre the Giant: Life and Legend,” “Is This Guy For Real?: The Unbelievable Andy Kaufman”) next graphic novel will focus on the history of weed legalization in the United States. The book, titled “Cannabis: The Illegalization of Weed in America,” is scheduled for a winter 2019 release. The Hollywood Reporter has more details and a five-page preview.
– ComicBook.com has the scoop on what’s happening with DC’s digital comics codes, which the publisher is removing from most of their monthly comics. Free codes will be included with high-profile launches and other projects, but absent from the rest of DC’s offerings.
– BOOM! Studios announced that they’ve brought Jeanine Schaefer on as the company’s Executive Editor. Schaefer, who has previously worked at DC and Marvel, said she’s “excited to join BOOM! Studios right now, as they take the next step in their growth as a progressive voice in comics.” Additionally, BOOM! promoted seven of their existing editors to higher positions within the company.
– FKA twigs launched the third issue of her Instagram zine, “AVANTgarden,” teaming up with collaborator Oneohtrix Point Never and others to create a “motion graphic novel” called ‘MEATSPACE.’ You can watch the whole thing at Pitchfork.
– Angoulême Award nominee Kickliy is bringing “Perdy,” a series of western-inspired graphic novels, to Image. The titular Perdy is a female outlaw who loves two things, sex and robbing banks, and she’s set to get back to both after spending 15 years in prison. Perdy releases Sept. 5; you can learn more about it from Image’s press release announcing the series.
– Screen Rant reports Ryan Reynolds said that Deadpool 3 is unlikely to happen, and that a full X-Force movie is more likely to be in the cards.
– Netflix confirmed its original “Sabrina” series will be titled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina with a tweet from series creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The tweet also features series star Kiernan Shipka in costume as Sabrina.
– Long-time Arrow cast member Paul Blackthorne, who plays Mayor Quentin Lance, will be exiting the show this year, likely as his initial contract with the show expires. Entertainment Weekly has the news.
– The Swedish version of the Phantom beat up fictional Polish homophobes with a Pride flag, drawing consternation from some on the internet and in the Polish media. PinkNews has more details, including elaboration from the story’s editor and writer.
– And finally, Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s “Doomsday Clock” #5 has been pushed back up to a May 30 release, as opposed to the June 20 date we told you about yesterday, according to a DC press release.
