In case you missed it, AfterShock announced the new series “We Live” by brothers Roy and Inaki Miranda, and we sat down with webcomic creator Valerie Halla to discuss her comic “Goodbye to Halos.”

– Brian K. Vaughan and Marcos Martin’s rare “The Walking Dead: The Alien” one-shot is being reprinted and released in hardcover by Image Comics. The one-shot was originally published digitally on PanelSyndicate.com, and was later printed and released as a limited edition for Local Comic Shop Day in 2019. The new hardcover edition will include unreleased designs, sketches, and layouts by Martin. “The Walking Dead: The Alien” is scheduled for release on July 29 in comic stores and August 4 in bookstores.

– A new online exhibition at the Society of Illustrators is celebrating the work of 50 women in comics, from the 19th century to the present day. Women in Comics: Looking Forward and Back features more than 50 female cartoonists, and is divided into two sections: the history of women cartoonists from the 1900s, and contemporary comics from the 1970s to the present day. The online exhibition shows a selection of curated works, on view until October 24, and will also soon include a video tour.

– Tyler Chin-Tanner and Val Rodriguez’s Mayan high fantasy “Mezo” is returning for a sequel in 2021, titled “The Battle of Cobán Rock.” The first volume of the series, titled “Rise of the Tzalekuhl,” was collected and released by A Wave Blue World in January. Volume 2 picks up right where the first left off, with Chin-Tanner and Rodriguez returning, along with colorists Doug Garbark and Varga Tomi, letterer Thomas Mauer, and editor Justin Zimmerman. The series is a part of A Wave Blue World’s Premier Program, where the first issue is distributed in print, followed by a bi-monthly digital release of the remaining issues, and a collected edition released 2 months after the issue #1 release.

– NBC’s The Blacklist has found an innovative way to complete one more episode for its 7th season after production was shut down by the pandemic. The 19th episode, titled “The Kazanjian Brothers,” will now include graphic novel-style animation, woven into the already filmed live-action scenes. Cast members James Spader and Megan Boone recorded dialogue from their homes for the animated scenes, and editors and animators worked remotely to finish out the episode. The 7th season of The Blacklist, originally spanning 22 episodes, will come to a conclusion with its 19th episode, airing on May 15.

– Robert Rodriguez and Peyton Reed have revealed that they will each be directing a portion of the upcoming second season of The Mandalorian on Disney+. Season one cast member, Carl Weathers, will also be joining the slate of directors for the upcoming season. Season 2 of The Mandalorian is still set to premiere this October.

– Fans who bought the digital edition of Bloodshot will get to see a new, four-part series titled R.S.T Hack. The in-world featurette continues to explore the Valiant Universe, and revolves around the notorious organization which created Bloodshot and its biggest secrets. A first look at the new series is available on ComicBook.com.

– Finally, Diamond have released a finalized list of comics being released when New Comic Book Day resumes on May 20, and Image Comics have released revised solicitations for June.
