In case you missed it, over 25 cartoonists have announced that they’ll be participating in No Pants Day, to help encourage people to donate to second-hand shops that have been impacted by COVID-19. We also have a preview of “Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man: King’s Ransom” #1.

– Marvel has announced the next Captain America-inspired hero for the upcoming mini-series “The United States of Captain America.” Joe Gomez, the Kickapoo Tribe’s incarnation of Captain America, will be making his first appearance in the third issue of the series. In addition to appearing in the main feature by Christopher Cantwell and Dale Eaglesham, Joe Gomez will have his story expanded upon in a backup by his creators, Lipan Apache writer Darcie Little Badger, and Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation artist David Cutler. “The United States of Captain America” follows Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, and John Walker as they search of Captain America’s stolen shield. The series is set to begin on June 2, with Joe Gomez’s appearance in issue #3 slated for August.

– Marvel will also be debuting a new LGBTQ character in the pages of “Marvel Voices: Pride” #1. A teaser image with art by Luciano Vecchio shows the new character, Somnus, with the accompanying text “Who is Somnus?,” with the word “is” crossed out and replaced with “was.” “Marvel Voices: Pride” #1 is the latest in the “Marvel Voices” series of one-shots and features a wide array of creators telling stories focusing on Marvel’s LGBTQIA+ heroes and villains. The book is set to come out on June 23.

– Scholastic Books will be releasing an upcoming graphic novel called “Srta. Quinces” (or “Miss Quinca”) by Kat Fajardo. The book will be released in both English and Spanish on March 1, 2022, and follows a young girl named Sue who is determined to avoid celebrating her quinceañera. That becomes difficult though, after Sue’s mother announces a surprise celebration when the family is on vacation in Honduras. It will be the first graphic novel from the Graphix imprint to be released simultaneously in English and Spanish.

– Writer Mark Millar has provided a number of announcements and updates for his upcoming slate of Netflix projects. In addition to clarifying that his adaptation of “The Magic Order” is still in development (after being delayed by COVID-19 related issues), he revealed a second volume of the comic with artist Stuart Immonen will launch in October, which will be followed “immediately afterwards” by a third with Italian artist Gigi Cavenago. He also teased a new six-episode live-action spy series, and announced that the first glimpse of the anime adaptation of “Super Crooks” will be shown at the Annecy Festival next month. Mark Millar and his wife Lucy sold Millarworld to Netflix in 2017, and their first production, Jupiter’s Legacy, is now streaming on Netflix.

– Comedian Ali Wong will be joining the cast of Amazon’s Paper Girls series, based on the book of the same name by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang. No details have been given on Wong’s role. Paper Girls stars Sofia Rosinsky, Camryn Jones, Riley Lai Nelet, and Fina Strazza, with Stephany Folsom and Christopher C. Rogers in place as co-showrunners. The Image Comics series “Paper Girls” follows four young newspaper delivery girls who find themselves caught in a battle between different warring groups of time-travelers, and must now choose their fate if they want to save their future.

– Skybound Entertainment has announced a line of variant covers for their books to celebrate Pride Month. The covers will be drawn by LGBTQIA+ artists and the profits from the books will be donated to the Transgender Law Center. The covers will be available on a number of Skybound books, including “The Walking Dead Deluxe,” “Fire Power,” and “Ultramega,” and feature the art of Kris Anka, Kira Okamoto, Tillie Walden, Binglin Hu, Ed Luce, Em Allen, Gabrielle Kari, Marty G, and an as-of-yet unannounced artist.

– The Webtoon series “Let’s Play” by Leeanne M. Krecic is set to receive a live-action television adaptation. The series will developed by Allnighter, the studio behind Sony’s Bloodshot film (based on the Valiant Entertainment character of the same name) and will be produced by Amanda Kruse, Dinesh Shamdasani, and Hunter Gorinson, as well as Krecic and Tom Akel. “Let’s Play” follows Sam, a game developer whose latest project is eviscerated by “Marshall Law,” an online critic. Things get complicated when Same realizes that Marshall is actually her new next door neighbor, leading to a game of love and life that might be too difficult to conquer.

– Lost in Random, an upcoming video game from Zoink and EA Games, has been made an official selection of the Tribeca Festival. The Tribeca Festival is known for being an annual showcase of upcoming short and feature films, and will be expanding into the world of video games for the first time this year. Lost in Random is written by “Unbeatable Squirrel Girl” and “Adventure Time” writer Ryan North, and explores the notion of chance, with dice playing a key role to the story.

– Federation Entertainment is developing an adventure-comedy series based on “Lucky Luke,” the long-running French Wild West comic. French actor Michael Youn and French banner Un pour Tous Productions are involved with the project as well. “Lucky Luke” is a series consisting of 46 graphic novels that date back to 1946. Created by Belgian cartoonist Morris, the series has sold over 300 million units worldwide.

– Finally, David Fickling Books has acquired the rights to “Crushing,” a wordless graphic novel from cartoonist Sophie Burrows. The book is completely textless, and follows the small but meaningful moments of comfort and connection that happen in a big city. Publication for the graphic novel is set for November 2021. Burrows previously published the picture book “Ig Pig and Og Frog!” with David Fickling Books in 2019, though “Crushing” will be aimed at an adult audience.
