Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Over at Collider, it’s been revealed by Simon Kinberg that the in development Wolverine film (which I refuse to call The Wolverine 3) will in fact be aiming for an R rating. Of all the things I can talk shit about with the X-Men films, this is not one of them. Wolverine’s parts in these films have been brushing up against an R rating more and more and if you’re finally going to do the character “justice”, you might as well let him get violent.
– Do you remember that pilot for Krypton that David Goyer wrote? That was going to be a story set on Krypton about Kal-El’s grandfather and the House Of El? I didn’t until Syfy ordered the pilot to be made with Goyer executive producing and Colm McCarthy directing. I will obviously hold off any and judgement until I’ve seen the episode, if it ever airs… nah, this sounds like an entirely unnecessary story and Goyer’s already proved what he finds interesting about Krypton and it’s not got anything to do with what’s interesting about Superman.
– On the brighter side of comic book TV, Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’ “Locke & Key is heading to television once more with a new pilot written and executively produced by Hill. Hopefully this one won’t be passed up on.
– Do you want to see some dead X-Men? Well, here you go, I guess. You sadists.
– Finally, you know how “Civil War II” is a thing even though I desperately wish it wasn’t? Well, it’s getting a prequel in the form of “Ulysses” #1, an Infinite Comic by Al Ewing, Jefte Paolo and Karl Kesel. Of all the comics I want to see these three working on, one tied to “Civil War II” is not what I wanted.
