– After a little confusion concerning the end of Scott Snyder’s “All-Star Batman” run, which he announced will conclude his 6 year tenure writing Batman, he clarified via Twitter that he still has 2 sizeable arcs left on the series. He further clarified that the series ends with issue #25. “All-Star Batman” #10 was released yesterday and features art by Rafael Albuquerque (”Huck,” “American Vampire”) and begins a 5 issue Alfred centric story.
– The theme line-wide for June at Image Comics will be “Pride Month,” with all proceeds from the sales going to The Human Rights Campaign. “We are so thankful for the opportunity to support the LGBTQ community during Pride Month this year by partnering once again with the Human Rights Campaign,” said Image Publisher, Eric Stephenson.
– Good news for fans of the TV series iZombie as it was picked up for a fourth season by the CW. The network also announced a full series pickup for the upcoming Black Lightning series. The series which is based off of the DC comic of the same name will follow retired superhero Jefferson Pierce, played by Hart of Dixie alum Cress Williams, as he once more dons he fights crime as the vigilante Black Lightning.
– Andrew Cosby (Eureka, 2 Guns), who is co-writing the reccently announced Hellboy reboot, said in an interview yesterday that the film will feature “a darker, more gruesome version of Hellboy.” Director Neil Marshal (The Descent, Centurion) also expressed his wish “to walk a razor’s edge between horror and comic book movie.” The pair are currently in the process of writing the film, which is working under the title Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, with “Hellboy” creator Mike Mignola.
– Saïd Taghmaoui who plays the character Samneer in the upcoming Wonder Woman film posted this photo on Instagram seemingly insinuating that his character is none other than the classic DC comics character Blackhawk in addition to the caption “Coming soon…!” Taghmaeoui’s character had been described previously as a secret agent who is ‘a master of disguise,’ and has worked in tandem with Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor. Wonder Woman opens in North American theaters June 2.
– The upcoming sequel Deadpool 2 is reportedly seeking to cast three more mutants to join Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool, Josh Brolin’s Cable and Zazie Beetz’s Domino. The suspected two of the three mutants suspected to be cast are Shatterstar and Feral who were both members of the “X-Force” which debuted in 1991. In addition it is believed that the film is looking to cast the character Robert de Costa aka Sunspot who debuted in “New Mutants.” Deadpool 2 is expected to hit theaters June 1, 2018.
