Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– SyFy has picked up full seasons of Superman prequel series Krypton, and Happy!, an adaptation of the 2012 Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson mini-series of the same name. Krypton takes places two generations before the destruction of the planet, and follows Superman’s grandfather, “…as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.” For those that don’t remember “HAPPY!”, it’s about an unsuccessful hit man, played by Chris Meloni, who is followed by an imaginary flying blue horse, voiced by Bobby Moynihan. I don’t remember being a huge fan of the comic, but those actors are perfect, so I’m definitely in for this show.

– Fox’s New Mutants has its first official casting in The Witch and Split star Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, and Game of Thrones‘ Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane. The two actors had been rumored to be in the film since last year but couldn’t be officially confirmed until the film was green lit earlier this year. Other New Mutants in the film, Danielle Moonstar, Sunspot, Cannonball, and Warlock have yet to be cast. The release is set for April 13, 2018.

– The TV adaptation of Jason Aaron and R.M. Guéra’s “Scalped” just finished filming the pilot, but may now need to move networks from WGN. Producer Warner Bros. Television is exploring other options after WGN was recently bought out, and their scripted shows’ futures are in question.

– The novelization of Suicide Squad by Marv Wolfman is nominated for a Scribe award in the “Adapted – General and Speculative” category. This is Wolfman’s third nomination, having previously received recognition for the novelizations of Batman: Arkham Knight and Superman Returns, which won the award for “Best Novel – Adapted.” The Scribe Awards “…recognize licensed works, specifically those that tie in with other media formats such as television, film, gaming, and comic books.”

– “Justice League” will see a new creative team take over the book (for at least an issue) with June’s #22. Soon-to-be “Wonder Woman” writer Shea Fontana will do the story with Philippe Briones on art, instead of the previously solicited team of Bryan Hitch and Fernando Pasarin. It’s unclear if the swap is for more than one issue or if the previously planned arc has just been delayed.

– Speaking of Wonder Woman, the latest bit of marketing for the upcoming film is a special Cold Stone creation, called Berry Bold and Glittery Gold. The concoction consists of dark chocolate triple berry ice cream with raspberries, chocolate shavings, and gold glitter. I’m sure that will pair well with the recently announced Wonder Woman weight-loss bars.

– Scott Snyder sat down for a video interview to talk a little more about this summer’s “Metal” event and the Dark Matter line. He details how the story centers around a new Dark Universe attacking the main DC Universe, and gives hints of how the books in the new line will fit in.

– And in some personally exciting news, Starz’ American Gods has already been picked up for a second season, after only two episodes. The show has been amazing so far, and now would be a good time to plug our weekly coverage of it right here.
