In case you missed it, Marvel Comics announced “Amazing Fantasy” #1000 will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Spider-Man’s first appearance in August.

– IDW Publishing’s acquisition of Camilo Moncada Lozano’s “A Fire Among Clouds” was one of three graphic novel deals reported by Publishers Weekly this week. Lozano had been publishing stories of the graphic novel’s characters, 15-year-old Donají and the winged Mexica warrior Itzcacalotl, as a webcomic called “Codex Black” since 2018, but announced last year that the series would be shifting format to graphic novels and also be in color, rather than black-and-white. It isn’t clear at this time whether “A Fire Among Clouds” is a print collection of the stories already published, or new stories, though Lozano’s announcement suggested the former. “A Fire Among Cloud”, which is aimed at a Young Adult audience and is set to be the first in a series, is scheduled for a Spring 2023 release. You can check out the week’s other children’s book deals here.

– Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court’s “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” will be ending with its next chapter, #126, it was announced. The series started in 2016 and enabled an exploration of the titular vigilantes beyond the confines of Kōhei Horikoshi’s ongoing “My Hero Academia” series, as well as glimpses at the past of other heroes who are integral to the primary manga. The final chapter will be available on Shōnen Jump+ on May 28.

– Dark Horse announced a Library Edition for “Tales From Harrow County.” The series’s first two volumes, ‘Death’s Choir’ and ‘Fair Folk,’ by writers Cullen Bunn and Tyler Crook, and artists Naomi Franquiz and Emily Schnall, will be collected into the book; the first story is set in World War II, and sees Harrow County under threat from a choir of ghosts who intend to resurrect the area’s deceased, whilst the second sees Bernice become torn between rescuing her goblin friend, and protecting Harrow County. The latest volume of the series, ‘Lost Ones,’ began with issue #1 on May 11; “Tales From Harrow County Library Edition” is scheduled for release in comic shops on October 5, and book shops on October 18.

– Amazon Prime Video are set to adapt “The Village” by writer Shamik Pasgupta, artist Gauray Shrivastav, colorist Prasad Patmaik, and letterer Kishan Harchandani into a six-part TV series. The comic is set in India, and sees a husband and three people from a remote village searching for the former’s family after their car breaks down. The series will mark the first comic book adaptation to be made in India. A release date is not yet set for The Village, but a poster can be seen in the meantime here.

Variety‘s preview of Summer TV shows confirmed that HBO Max’s Harley Quinn Season 3 and Netflix’s The Sandman Season 1 will debut in the release window, though specific dates for both shows remain unconfirmed. Harley Quinn will see Kaley Cuoco returning as the voice of the titular character, whilst The Sandman will introduce audiences to Tom Sturridge as Dream in the first TV series adaptation of the Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg series.

In further Summer TV news, Apple TV+ revealed that Surfside Girls, the live-action adaptation of Kim Dwinell’s IDW graphic novel series of the same name, will debut on the platform on August 19. Surfside Girls will follow Jade (Miya Cech) and Sam (YaYa Gosselin) as their summer of surfing is derailed when they meet a ghost and learn about a mysterious pirate ship. The adaptation has been overseen by the trio of May Chan, Julie Sagalowsky Diaz, and Alex Díaz.

In addition Apple TV+ confirmed a new Peanuts special, called “Lucy’s School,” will debut on August 12, and The Snoopy Show‘s new episodes will arrive on August 5. Details about the latest Peanuts special have been kept under wraps, though a list of classic Peanuts episodes coming to the platform has been revealed. You can see the list and the remainder of the streaming service’s full summer line-up of kids series here.

– The slew of comic book TV shows being cancelled continued, with the latest being M.O.D.O.K on Hulu, after one season. Led by Patton Oswalt voicing the titular villain, it chronicled the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing being removed from leadership of A.I.M., and the fracturing of his family relationships. The future of Hulu’s second animated Marvel series, Hit-Monkey, has yet to be revealed.

– Finally, the BBC confirmed that David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be returning to Doctor Who for its upcoming 60th anniversary special, though details about their return have been kept a secret, with the returning showrunner, Russell T Davies, posting that “Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback.” Tennant was the show’s Tenth Doctor and departed the role in 2010, but returned in 2013 for the show’s 50th anniversary, whilst Tate portrayed Donna Noble and last made an appearance in Tennant’s final episode in 2010. This news comes shortly after Ncuti Gatwa was revealed to be the next Doctor. An air date for the 60th anniversary special has not been revealed, but the show will turn 60 on November 23, 2023.
