In case you missed it, DC announced a series of ‘Batman – One Bad Day’ specials, as well as this year’s Round Robin winner, while Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, Thomas Sniegoski and Peter Bergting are collaborating on “Frankenstein: New World.” We also had an exclusive cover reveal for “Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel to be Kin” #4.

– Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum, the creative comedy duo behind M.O.D.O.K. and the tie-in comic “M.O.D.O.K.: Head Games,” are starting their first ever creator-owned series at Dark Horse. “Minor Threats,” featuring art by Scott Hepburn, colors by Ian Herring, and lettering by Nate Piekos, is a comedy crime story following a group of small-time super criminals after one accidentally kills Kid Dusk, the dynamic sidekick to the gothic superhero Insomniac. “This is our love letter to superhero comics and crime fiction,” Blum said. “An underdog story of inept costumed criminals in over their heads, trying to survive an unforgiving city filled with caped gods, fallen kaiju, and traffic causing time vortexes. Everyday crooks in a fantastical world trying to get theirs.” “Minor Threats” #1 releases August 24 with a cover by Hepburn and a variant from Mike Mignola.

– IDW announced the eight-part event maxiseries “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Armageddon Game,” written by Tom Waltz with art by Vincenzo Federici. In In “The Armageddon Game,” the Turtles — now under the leadership of Shredder — embark on a multiversal quest to find allies to battle the Rat King, and his henchmen LeatherKrang, Baxter Stockman, and Madame Null. However, their absence leaves Mutant Town vulnerable to “false flag attacks, mysterious new villains, and unexpected alliances.” Issue #1 goes on sale this August.

– Following her multiversal romance comic “Bolero” with Wyatt Kennedy, Luana Vecchio is making her cartoonist debut at Image Comics with “Lovesick.” The psychosexual neon horror comic follows the dominatrix Domino, and her acts of exploitative erotica. The series was inspired by Vecchio’s accidental exposure to violent images online. “The idea for this story came to me when I stumbled onto a shock site for the first time, and realized that sadly, reality is more disturbing than I had thought,” said Vecchio. “But beyond mere violence and gore, ‘Lovesick’ is a deep journey into human loneliness.” “Lovesick #1 releases this October with a cover by Vecchio.

– Ultraman is returning to Marvel this August with “Ultraman: The Mystery of Ultraseven,” the third miniseries from Kyle Higgins, Mat Groom and Davide Tinto. The series follows on from “The Rise of Ultraman” and “The Trials of Ultraman,” explaining the hero’s disappearance and the kaiju conspiracy behind it. “Kyle and I’s reimagination of this universe started with a long-term masterplan — which is why we featured Dan Moroboshi’s mysterious disappearance in the very first pages of ‘The Rise of Ultraman,'” says Groom. “It’s so exciting to have reached the stage where we can now pull back the curtain on that mystery… and its world-shaking implications!” The issue also features a back-up story from Gurihiru, detailing the history of Ultra Q.

– The ’80s comedy-horror icon Bunnicula is back with the OGN “Bunnicula: The Graphic Novel” from writers James Howe and Andrew Donkin, with art by Stephen Gilpin. Howe created the character in 1979, publishing stories following the murderous rabbit until 2006, with the latest graphic adaptation releasing through Simon & Schuster’s kids imprint. The story is told from the perspective of the Monroe family’s pet cat Chester and dog Harold, after Toby Munroe finds the rabbit at a screening of Dracula and adopts him. The two pets must unravel the mystery of the rabbit and see if Bunnicula really is a vampire. “Bunnicula: The Graphic Novel” releases August 30.

– 20th Century Studios are reportedly attempting another adaptation of Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s “League of Extraordinary Gentleman,” with Red Sparrow scribe Justin Haythe penning the screenplay. The reboot is set to be a feature release on Hulu, with Don Murphy and Susan Montford producing. Following 2003’s divisive League of Extraordinary Gentleman, the new adaptation will reportedly stick closer to its source material. Few other details, including cast and release, are known at this time. There was no mention of Moore or O’Neill’s involvement.

– Continuing the trend of historic Star Wars/Vanity Fair photoshoots, the publisher did a spotlight on the upcoming slate of Star Wars Disney+ series, including a new coming-of-age adventure show from Jon Watts and writer Chris Ford. The series, which is currently under the production title Grammar Rodeo, seemingly follows four pre-teens after the original trilogy, mimicking ’80s adventure movies like The Goonies and E.T. The feature piece also detailed the growing production management behind the various projects, confirming Andor’s release in Summer 2022, The Mandalorian season 3 in late 2022 or early 2023, and Ahsoka in 2023. Other details from the story included the confirmation of Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s involvement in Ahsoka, and setting a timeline for the release of any future Star Wars films with Taika Waititi’s the furthest through development, followed by Patty Jenkins’s Rogue Squadron, and Rian Johnson’s trilogy firmly on the backburner as the director makes Knives Out 2.

– Marvel Studios released the first trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, giving us the first look at Tatiana Maslany as the titular hero. The trailer focuses on Jennifer Walters discovering her powers alongside her cousin Bruce Banner, who is continuing his role as Professor Hulk, alongside her new role as a legal advisor for superhuman affairs. The series also features the return of Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, who we see in the trailer, and Benedict Wong as Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme. The light-hearted, nine-part series seems influenced by the character’s satirical ’80s appearances, as well as more contemporary runs like Dan Slott’s seminal run. The series also features Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Nicholas Cirillo, and Jameela Jamil as the main antagonist Titania, who is only seen in one shot of this teaser. She-Hulk: Attorney At Law debuts on August 17, and is directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia.

– In more Marvel Disney+ news, Marvel Studios have revealed a first look at Echo, the series spinning out of Hawkeye, starring Alaqua Cox. The announcement includes a cast confirmation of Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene and Zahn McClarnon starring alongside Cox. There’s been no confirmation of any returning Daredevil characters, the comic series in which Echo first debuted, including Vincent D’Onafrio’s Kingpin, who appeared alongside Cox’s Maya Lopez in Hawkeye. The series is directed by Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre, and Jason Gavin executive producing, and Amy Rardin, Sydney Freeland, Christina King, and Jennifer Booth co-executive producing.
