– Vault Comics have announced “Lilith,” a new horror comic that kicks off the mature readers imprint Threshold. Written and drawn by Corin Howell, with colors by Warnia Sahadewa, letters by Jim Campbell, and design by Tim Daniel, this spicy comic follows the titular immortal after she’s banished from her home, a dimensional plane similar to our Hell. While on Earth, Lilith has been posing as a model and preying on humans, until she meets Penelope, a bookstore owner who may hold the key to returning her home — unless the two fall in love first. “Lilith” is the first of many new releases under the Threshold imprint, with more announcements to come in the months ahead. “Lilith” #1 will debut in August sporting variant covers from Jae Lee, Tula Lotay, Zoe Thorogood, Angela Wu, and more.

– BOOM! Studios revealed “Red Before Black,” written by Stephanie Phillips with art by Goran Sudžuka, colors by Ive Svorcina, and letters by Tom Napolitano. The book is set in Florida and follows a disgraced army veteran named Val, who is on the hunt for an infamous drug runner named Leo. She soon discovers that she and Leo have a common enemy, changing their game of cat-and-mouse into something more dangerous and sinister. When discussing the book, Phillips said “There is truly no better place I could think of to set ‘Red Before Black’ – a weird crime story with an even weirder setting.” The book will feature variant covers by Dave Johnson, Dani, Cliff Chiang, and Toni Fejzula. “Red Before Black” #1 will be available in comics shops August 7, 2024.

– Titan Comics announced “Huge Detective,” written by Adam Rose (“Corollary”) with art by Magenta King. This noir thriller takes place in a world where giants emerged from the earth, leading to a bloody conflict known as ‘The Omega Event.’ Eventually, a treaty was drawn up, establishing the state of Brobdingnag, where humans and giants can co-exist. But when tragedy strikes, Detectives Tamaki and Gyant form an unlikely alliance to keep the peace from shattering to pieces. Described as Chinatown meets The BFG, “Huge Detective” #1 (of 5) arrives in comic stores on August 7, 2024 with covers by King, Diego Yapur, Dalts Dalton, Robert Hack, and more.

– Dark Horse unveiled “Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures: Echoes of Fear,” written by George Mann, illustrated by Vincenzo Riccardi, colored by Michael Atiyeh, and lettered by Comicraft. The four-issue miniseries follows Jedi Knight Reath Silas, and Jedi Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo, as they research the mysterious Echo Stones and their Force-amplifying powers. Issue #1 will hit shelves with cover art by Eduardo Mello on August 21, 2024. Additionally, DH revealed Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerque’s post-apocalyptic comiXology series “Duck and Cover” will debut in print on September 4, 2024; the physical run will consist of three 56-page issues, and be collected in paperback on March 11, 2025.

– Todd McFarlane Productions and Image Comics will publish “Violator: Origin,” a new series exploring the origins of the fan-favorite Spawn villain. This six-issue series will be written by Marc Andreyko, with art by Piotr Kowalski, Kyle Hotz, Jonathan Wayshak, Gianenrico Bonacorsi, Cully Hamner, and Von Randall respectively on each issue. The book will show Violator’s celestial inception, his descent to Hell, and how he’s lurked in the shadows of Earth’s history until he was ultimately banished from the mortal realm. “Violator: Origin” #1, which will be 56 pages, will debut on August 14, 2024.

– Via AIPT, Webtoon have formed a partnership with Thales InFlyt Experience to integrate their entire catalogue of webcomics for passengers to enjoy during their flights. Passangers will be able to seamlessly enjoy Webtoon webcomics directly on their mobile devices. Webtoon’s David S. Lee said, “Digital comics are the perfect content for travelers to consume in-flight – highly mobile and scrollable, with a genre and series for every type of reader,” while Kurt Weidemeyer, VP of Product Delivery Digitial for Thales InFlyt Experience, said “We look forward to giving travelers the opportunity to dive headfirst into the exciting world of webcomics through this partnership.”

– Netflix have announced some new additions to The Sandman. The first season introduced Dream, Death, Desire and Despair, played by Tom Sturridge, Kirby (Howell-Baptiste), Mason Alexander Park, and Donna Preston respectively. Season two will add Adrian Lester as Destiny, Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, and Barry Sloane as the Prodigal. Other returning cast members include Patton Oswalt, Vivienne Acheampong, Gwendoline Christie, Jenna Coleman, Ferdinand Kingsley, Stephen Fry, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Vanesu Samunyai, and Razane Jammal. Variety reports that Super/Man, a documentary about actor Christopher Reeve, is set to hit theaters this fall. The film will play in select theaters on September 21, 2024, and will receive an encore presentation on September 25 in honor of Reeve’s birthday. The film, which was directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, chronicles Reeve’s ascent to stardom following the Superman films, through to the horse-riding accident that left him in a wheelchair and on a ventilator for the rest of his life. Reeve’s family participated in the documentary and contributed personal archival footage of the actor. It premiered at Sundance Film Festival and was sold to Warner Bros., HBO, CNN, and Max for about $15 million.
