– Director Doug Liman (Mr. And Mrs. Smith, The Edge of Tomorrow) has parted ways with the previously announced “Justice League Dark” film due to scheduling conflicts. Fans of the series will be experiencing some deja vu, as this previously happened with the films original director Guillermo del Torro. The film was originally working under the title Dark Universe – although the new Universal horror universe currently has that name – will reportedly feature John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, and Etrigan the Demon as they navigate the mystical side of the DC cinematic universe.

– According to the Marvel website, we have learned that their first Legacy renumbered title will be Al Ewing and James Ward’s “Ultimates 2,” which will make the change to issue #100 in the fall. “Ultimates,” which was Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch’s modern take on the Avengers, began it’s initial run in 2002. Marvel has yet to confirm any other Legacy numbered titles other than the previously announced “Venom” #150 which comes out today.

– Sanford Greene (“Runaways: Warzone”, “Powerman and Iron Fist”) has announced that he will be returning to work with Chuck Brown (“Rotten Apple”, “Civil War II: Chooising Sides”) on a new creator-owned webcomic titled “1000” for LINE Webtoon. “It’s been an incredible journey to create a comic for a vertical digital platform like LINE Webtoon, it’s challenged me in a unique way and I can’t wait for readers to see the results” Greene said.

– This September you can look forward to a newly minted convention hosted by Hasbro in Providence, RI called HasCon. The event will feature everything from the Transformers and G.I. Joe to Magic: The Gathering and Mr. Potato Head. The Con will also include IDW’s licensing partners Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and Sesame Street. HasCon attendees can also look forward to an appearance by Stan Lee in addition to a long list of toy designers, voice talent and internet personalities.

– For the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, as well as the upcoming release of The Last Jedi, Vanity Fair has released four different covers, just as they did before The Force Awakens. The issue of Vanity Fair includes interviews with the cast and crew in addition to a special tribute to Carrie Fisher, with remembrances from the cast, crew and Fisher’s friends of the late actress.

– Disney released the first teaser trailer for their previously announced Disney XD series Ant-Man. The series of six two-minute shorts will feature MCU Ant-Man Scott Lang as well as his daughter Cassie, mentor Hank Pym and partner Hope Pym. The series is animated by Passion Pictures, the studio behind the Gorillaz music videos, and will be debuting on June 10th.

– Writer Jody Houser (“Mother Panic”, “Faith”) and artist Jacob Edgars have been tapped to create a new James Bond one-shot titled “James Bond: Moneypenny” for Dynamite. The one-shot will center on a routine protection mission which leads Miss Moneypenny the discovery of a complex assassination plot which has connections to her tragic past. The comic will be hitting shelves August 30th.

– DC is working on an animated show based off of the all ages “DC Superhero Girls” comic book series. The show is in production at Cartoon network with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic developer Lauren Faust and will be released sometime in 2018. Faust is currently working on redesigning the characters and writing the story for the series which centers around teenage versions of Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl attending school together in Metropolis.

– Sheena, Queen of the Jungle was created by comic book legends Will Eisner and Jerry Iger and was the very first female character to ever have her own comic book title. A new series is now in the works at Dynamite, written by Marguerite Bennett (“Batwoman,” “Animosity”) Christina Trujillo, and with illustrations by Moritat (“Hellblazer,” “Teen Titans”). The series will debut in August.

– “Spy Seal: The British Agent” is the new Image series from Rich Tomasso (“She Wolf,” “Pete and Miriam”), and has quite the interesting origin story. “It’s wonderful and surreal to be working with material that I created as a 13-year-old kid,” said Tommaso. “Spy Seal: The British Agent” will be hitting comic store shelves Wednesday August 16, 2017.

– The writer of the immensely popular video game Firewatch, Sean Vanaman revealed that he and designer Olly Moss have been working on an issue of the ongoing Rick and Morty comic book series. Issue #29 of “Rick and Morty” will feature a script by the pair of writers with interiors by C.J. Cannon. Oni Press has slated the issue for release this August.

– Dynamite announced yet another new series, a new Turok series, spinning out of “The Sovereigns,” written by Chuck Wendig (Star Wars: Aftermath trilogy) and illustrated by Álvaro Sarraseca, and will debut in August.

– Fans of the “Doctor Who” comic series will be excited to learn that Titan Comics has announced a brand new event titled “Doctor Who: The Lost Dimension.” The 8 part series, which is slated to begin this August will involve the past four incarnations of The Doctor teaming up to defeat The Void a universe devouring nothingness.

– And lastly, some sad news as veteran actor Sir Roger Moore has passed away. Moore is remembered most for his portrayal as James Bond in Octopussy, The Spy Who Loved Me as well as countless other iconic Bond films . Moore took over after Sean Connery ended his tenure playing the iconic Ian Fleming character in 1971. The 12 years which Moore played Bond included many of the most well known and quotable lines from the franchises decades long run. Moore passed away at the age of 89 after a brief bout with cancer.

Samuel Oosting-FitzMichael is a very tall man who would prefer if you just called him Sam. His hobbies include pretending to have hobbies, desperately trying to read his always increasing 'to read' pile, and baking. He can be found on Twitter pontificating on the philosophical meaning behind all those Charmin Bear ads. What ever happened to the Batusi?
