– In a series of tweets, artist Elsa Charretier (“Infinte Loop,” “Starfire”) made public that she will be leaving Marvel’s “Unstoppable Wasp” in August to work on a new graphic novel with writer George R. R. Martin. It was previously announced in 2014 that Charretier would be working on an adaption of George R.R. Martin and Lisa Tuttle’s Windhaven novels. According to Charretier the graphic novel is slated to be released in 2018.

– Longstanding “X-Men” editor Daniel Ketchum has reportedly been let go by Marvel Comics. Ketchum was one of the editor’s responsible for the recent relaunch of the “X-Men” titles following the “Inhuman vs X-Men” event. Marvel has offered no further information about his dismissal.

– 2017 marks the 100th birthday of comic book legend, Jack “The King” Kirby and it would be a crime against nature to not recognize the icon for his countless contributions to the medium. Kirby was the artist who created the Devil Dinosaur, the New Gods, the Silver Surfer, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and so many more of your favorite characters that it is near impossible to list them all. If you are interested in finding out more about Jack Kirby this article explores his amazing work and lasting legacy in the comic book industry.

– Artist Jae Lee (“Inhumans,” “Hellshock”) and writers Sebastian Jones (“Niobe: She is Life”) and Darrell May (“Erathune”) announced at the Phoenix Comic Con on Saturday that they will partnering on a new creator-owned comic book titled “Fey.” The series was described as a love story between a boy named William and a fairy named Fey and is scheduled to be released later this year.

– Officials at Phoenix Comic Con were forced to ban all prop weapons on Friday after police arrested an unidentified man at the convention. The man, who had with him four guns, a knife, and an assortment of handheld weapons, was reported to authorities by a friend who saw the individual threatening police officers at the convention on social media. Additional security was added and police stated that they were confident this was an isolated event.

– A free comic distributed by Polish comic book publisher Timof Comics at their Warsaw Comics Festival has prompted city officials to pull funding for the event. “Poland, the champion of Poland,” by Tomasz Lesniak and Rafal Skarzycki, which mocked nationalism, racism, and anti-Semitism within Poland, was met with complaints by nationalist organizations within the country. Upon learning of the book’s content the Warsaw City Council declared that they would pull funding from the the comics festival, which is co-sponsored by Timof Comics, for the next 3 years.

– If you’ve got 100 bucks burning a hole in you pocket and love the DC Animated Universe then hold on to your butts. Google Play has recently released a collection of 25 DC animated movies, featuring gems like Justice League: The New Frontier, an adaption of the late Darwyn Cooke’s Eisner Award winning comic book, as well as Justice League: Gods and Monsters which reimagines a darker more authoritarian Justice League from Batman: The Animated Series co-creator Bruce Timm. The entire collection is available for purchase on the Google Play store here.

Samuel Oosting-FitzMichael is a very tall man who would prefer if you just called him Sam. His hobbies include pretending to have hobbies, desperately trying to read his always increasing 'to read' pile, and baking. He can be found on Twitter pontificating on the philosophical meaning behind all those Charmin Bear ads. What ever happened to the Batusi?
