– Oni Press have teased a new chapter of supernatural western “The Sixth Gun,” from creators Cullen Bunn & Brian Hurtt. Apart from the new teaser, “The Sixth Gun: Reborn” has only launched a Kickstarter page, which you can subscribe to to receive updates. In a tweet, Oni President and Publisher, Hunter Gorinson wrote “It’s a true pleasure working with two comic greats- @cullenbunn and @brihurtt- on cooking up more than a few surprises for SIXTH GUN fans… MUCH more to come VERY soon.” Stay tuned for more information.

– Kelly Thompson announced, via Twitter, that she would be joined by Leonardo Romero and Jordie Bellaire as the creative team behind a new “Birds of Prey” series. Thompson writes “Black Canary is building the most dangerous #BirdsOfPrey team yet… who do YOU think will make the cut?” She added on her Substack that the new line-up will be revealed every day this week. The new iteration of “Birds of Prey” launches in September.

– Via Comic-Con.org, the 2023 recipients for the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award are Beth Accomando and Scott Dunbier. Beth Accomando is a film critic who volunteers and does fundraising as part of The Film Geeks at the Digital Gym Cinema, bringing independent and envelope-pushing genre filmmaking to the Media Arts Center San Diego’s micro cinema. She is also co-founder of the Horrible Imaginings Film Festival. Scott Dunbier, the Special Projects Editor at IDW, partnered with Operation USA to spearhead a crowdfunding campaign for “Comics for Ukraine: Sunflower Seeds,” an anthology that raised nearly $175,000, with all proceeds being donated to Ukrainian refugees. The award will be presented by Bob Clampett’s daughter, Ruth, at the Eisner Awards ceremony on Friday, July 21 at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel.

– Via The Hollywood Reporter, singer and actress Rebbeca Marie Gomez, also known as Becky G, has been tapped for a key voice role in Blue Beetle. Gomez will voice Khaji-Da, a being that imbues and controls Blue Beetle (Xolo Maridueña)’s Scarab. The film, written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, will debut in theaters on August 18, 2023.

– Netflix have announced that Idris Elba will reteam with his Thor co-star Chris Hemsworth in Extraction 2. Elba will portray the Man in the Suit, a mysterious figure who kicks off the film’s plot by offering Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake a mission he can not turn down. Extraction 2 will debut on June 16, 2023.

– DC have revealed an all-new trailer for My Adventures with Superman, and announced that the show will premiere on Adult Swim with two back-to-back episodes on July 6, 2023. Episodes will be aired weekly on Thursdays, and will also be ready to stream a day after they premiere on Max. Check out the new trailer here.

– Finally, the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) have voted to strike. Per the guild, 97.91 percent of members (from 47.69 percent turnout) authorized the strike. Like the WGA strike, the decision was prompted by concerns over the use of AI, and the lack of residuals from streaming projects. Actual strike action could be overturned if the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) offers a new contract that SAG-AFTRA accepts. The last major SAG and AFTRA strike occurred in 1980.
