Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– It’s been announced that with Supergirl moving to the CW for its second season, the show will finally introduce Superman in its first two episodes. No longer will the show have to resort to only showing the man of steel from the neck down, but we’ll finally get someone in the cape. I can’t wait to see who the choose and with the fantastic track record the show has, I’m pretty sure this is going to be a Superman I can love.
– Deadline has announced that Mark Millar and Greg Capullo will be teaming up for “Reborn” this October. The story is about an 80 year old woman who is afraid to die until she finally does and awakens in… well, Dark Souls, from the sounds of it. Seems like Greg Capullo will be digging back into his fantasy art arsenal from his “Spawn” days on this one. Millar is also, obviously, already talking about optioning the project as a film, so expect that in about a year or so.
– With 19 year old Tom Holland playing Spider-Man, it was expected that Peter Parker would be returning to high school for Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it’s been reported that 14 year old Michael Barbieri is in talks to star alongside Holland. According to comicbook.com, the role is inspired by Ganke of “Ultimate Spider-Man”, despite Ganke being the best friend of Miles and not Peter. Does this mean Miles could feature in the movie? Or did someone forget that Harry Osborn should fill that role for Peter?
– In a move that’s pretty much the only way my butt will be in theatre to see Pacific Rim 2, John Boyega has joined the cast and will apparently play the sons of Idris Elba’s character from the first film. Now, if only we could get Oscar Isaac in on this.
– According to writer Benjamin Percy on twitter, “Green Arrow: Rebirth” #1 has sold over 90,000 copies. That’s… a lot. And it makes it the best selling Green Arrow comic in years, moreso than even the Kevin Smith/Phil Hester #1. Maybe that TV show did help after all.
