– Skybound unveiled a second volume of the “Creepshow” comic will begin on September 12. The first issue will feature “a disturbing tale of the unborn” by Garth Ennis and Becky Cloonan, as well as “the story of a grieving son who bends the laws of nature to see his mother one last time” by Phil Hester. Further issues of the five-part series will include stories by Michael Walsh, Dan Watters, Abigail Larson, Zoe Thorogood, Joel Farrelly, Nick Dragotta, Alisa Kwitney, Saladin Ahmed, Joe Quinones, Tim Daniel, D.B. Andry, Matthew Roberts, and more, who will be announced at a later date.

– In further horror short story news, Dark Horse and Second Sight Publishing will partner to release “SHOOK! A Black Horror Anthology.” The 200-page book, originally crowdfunded by Second Sight on Kickstarter, was masterminded by John Jennings and Bradley Golden with Second Sight COO Marcus H. Roberts, and features 13 tales of terror by creators like Rodney Barnes, David Walker, Flavio Cortés, Brandon Easton, and Kevin Grevioux. It will be published in bookstores at the end of Black History Month on February 28, 2024, and comic bookstores the following day (February 29.)

– Scissor Sisters co-founder Scott Hoffman (aka Babydaddy) will write “Nostalgia,” a five-part comiXology series with art by Danijel Žeželj, colors by Lee Loughridge, lettering by Steve Wands, and design work by Rian Hughes. A dystopian sci-fi comic, the story follows the titular glam rock musician (real name Craig Mancini), “as he finds himself thrust into a total deconstruction of the dystopian world he thought he knew after a mysterious delivery lands on his doorstep.” The first issue will be released on Tuesday, June 13.

– Via ComicOn, Humanoids revealed “The Cat from the Kimono,” an adult-aimed fairy tale by writer/artist Nancy Peña, translated by Montana Kane. Set “once upon a time” in Japan, the OGN begins when a maiden’s magical kimono is attacked by a spurned weaver, unleashing a cat from it. “Thus, the black cat began a fantastic voyage, from the murky depths of the ocean to the smokey markets of London, as he [attempts] to return home, meeting danger and even some familiar historical figures along the way.” It will be released in bookstores on October 31, and in comic bookstores the following day.

– Via Major Spoilers, Avery Hill will publish “The Hard Switch,” a sci-fi OGN by Owen D. Pomery (“British Ice”), on October 26. The book follows Ada, Haika, and Mallic, a trio of scavengers living off derelict spaceships. But “the time is coming when the mineral that makes inter-system jumps possible runs out. When it does, the scattered inhabitants of the vast galaxy will be stuck where they are. Everything will be different… unless the discovery in the latest wreck Ada, Haika, and Mallic are scavenging can unlock a whole new kind of interstellar transit.”

– To mark Dave Filoni’s 49th birthday, Lucasfilm revealed in a TV spot that the Disney+ Ahsoka series will premiere on Wednesday, August 23. The eight-part show, starring Rosario Dawson, picks up from Ahsoka’s appearances in Star Wars Rebels, The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett, as her search for Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) brings her into conflict with the fallen Jedi Baylan Skoll (the late Ray Stevenson), and his apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno). The show also stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Mandalorian Sabine Wren, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ghost captain Hera Syndulla.

– Amazon released the trailer for Good Omens season two, revealing the plot this time round will revolve an amnesiac Gabriel (Jon Hamm) showing up in Aziraphale’s bookshop. He and Crowley will have to team up again to hide the archangel from the forces of Heaven and Hell, while uncovering the reasons for his predicament. The new season, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen, and featuring newcomer Quelin Sepulveda as angel/”human police officer” Muriel, will be released in its entirety on Prime Video on July 28, 2023.

– Warner Bros. dropped the trailer for Justice League: Warworld, the R-rated animated film picking up from this year’s Legion of Super-Heroes. The film sees Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman get transported to Mongul’s titular gladiator planet, and then respectively to other dimensions like Skartaris (where Teddy Sears plays Warlord), a vintage black-and-white universe, and the Wild West (where Troy Baker will voice Jonah Hex.) The film, directed by Jeff Wamester from a script by Jeremy Adams, Ernie Altbacker and Josie Campbell, will be released digitally and on physical media on July 25, 2023.

– Finally, a Hollywood Reporter article confirmed reports The Flash director Andy Muschietti is DC Studios’ top choice to helm The Brave and the Bold, the reset film/TV DCU Batman movie that will co-star Damian Wayne/Robin. However, “there is no script — and thus no formal commitment from the filmmaker — until one materializes post-writers strike.” The Flash, which Muschietti directed at least two previous Batmen in (Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton), currently has a 71 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 90 reviews.
