– The Ultimate Universe is officially being reborn, Marvel announced during its “Ultimate Invasion” Virtual Conference. The conference, which featured writer Jonathan Hickman, artist Bryan Hitch, and editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski, revealed that a new Ultimate Universe would be spinning out of the upcoming “Ultimate Invasion” limited series. The four-part mini will receive an epilogue one-shot, “Ultimate Universe” #1, written by Hickman with art from Stefano Caselli. Hitch will provide covers. Hickman assures readers they won’t need to be familiar with the previous Ultimate titles to enjoy the new incarnation, but assures the same dedication to reflecting the “world outside your window.” “Ultimate Universe” #1 will be released in November, while the first issue of “Ultimate Invasion” goes on sale June 21.

– Humanoids unveiled a new chapter of the “Cathago” series, following a mermaid battling corporate greed in 1970s China. “Carthago: Kane” see the title half-Triton escape the billionaires holding him captive, and chasing the megalodon his wealthy captors seek. Christopher Bec handles the script, with art from Ennio Bufi and Bec. Andrea Meloni handles colors, while Montana Kane translates. It will available in bookstores on October 17, and comics retailers the following day.

– DiverseBooks.org revealed the cover for “Born Driven.” Written by Saxton Moore Jr., with art from Nolwe Azul Tamis, the 40-page picture book tells the story of the first African American NASCAR driver Wendell Scott. It specifically focuses on the time he took part in his local soapbox derby. The book is due out November 28 from Oni Press.

– “Ennead,” Mojito’s epic boys’ love manhwa is coming to print courtesy of Seven Seas Entertainment. The publisher will release two versions of the acclaimed fantasy Webtoon, based on the ancient Egyptian myths of Horus and Seth: a paperback version aimed towards older teens, and a deluxe hardcover for more mature audiences. Both are standalone, differing only in how some of the more mature content is presented. This will be the first time the series is available in English-language print. “Ennead” Vol. 1 will be available this November.

– AHOY Comics will collect all of Mark Russell and Peter Snejberg’s breakfast series monster tales into one collection. “Cereal” features the pair’s spooky tales of breakfast cereal mascot pastiches, such as the Marquis de Cocoa (Count Chocula), Lords Franken Cherrie and Beau (Frankenberries), and Captain Crackle (Captain Crunch). These stories were featured over the course of five years in AHOY’s “Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Terror” anthology. “Cereal” is due out October 12.

Star Trek: Lower Decks‘s Lieutenant Junior Grade Shaxs is getting his own one-shot from IDW. Tying into the publisher’s Trek-line wide ‘Day of Blood’ event, “Star Trek: Day of Blood – Shaxs’ Best Day” will be written by Ryan North with art from Derek Charm. According to North, “I was asked if I would be willing to write a Star Trek comic where Shaxs got to live his absolute best day and go completely ham on a bunch of fascist Klingons, and I said yes before our editor, Heather Antos, was even part-way through asking me.” The book is due out on September 27.

– Finally, news out of the Summer Game Fest: Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2 will hit shelves on October 20 of this year, exclusively for PS5. Preorders will begin on June 17 at 10am, with two early unlock suits (Arachknight for Peter and Shadow-Spider for Miles) among the bonuses. The Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Editions will have ten suits (five for each protagonist) designed by artists like Kris Anka, Sweeney Boo, and Victoria Ying as bonus content, and the Collector’s Edition also comes with a 19-inch statue of Venom.

Bandai Namco unveiled Sand Land, an action RPG based on the manga from “Dragon Ball’s” Akira Toriyama. The story follows human and demons alike searching for water in a vast desert. The gameplay will feature both vehicular and character combat. You can see a sample of the gameplay here.

We also got a glimpse of season three of The Witcher. Volume one is set to hit Netflix on June 29, with volume two dropping July 27. You can watch the trailer here.
