In case you missed it, renowned American chef and comic book writer Anthony Bourdain has died at age 61, and Matthew Vaughn, the director of Kick-Ass and both Kingsman films, has revealed further plans for both franchises in a new interview with Empire.

– In Marvel Comics news, the House of Ideas has released a new promotional teaser for its upcoming “Spidergeddon” event. The mini-series will apparently focus on parallel universe versions of Spider-Man and Spider-Woman, and will be written by Christos Gage (“Spider-Verse Team-Up”) and illustrated by Jorge Molina (“X-Men Blue”).

– Newsarama is reporting that Brian Cunningham will be the new group editor of DC’s Superman books, including the new Brian Michael Bendis scribed “Man of Steel” and “Action Comics” titles. Cunningham is replacing previous group editor Eddie Berganza, who was fired amidst sexual misconduct allegations.

– Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has contributed a solo track titled “Brief Exchange,” to the recent string of releases inspired by DC’s “Dark Nights: Metal.” The song is produced by Mike Elizondo (Twenty-One Pilots), and also features former Marilyn Manson guitarist Tyler Bates, and Dillinger Escape Plan’s Gil Sharone. Chino Moreno’s dream pop band Crosses previously contributed a track to Batman: Arkham City – The Album.

– In an interview with the Comic Shenanigans podcast, veteran Marvel Comics and Conan the Barbarian editor Ralph Macchio has revealed that he is acting as Consulting Editor on three brand new Marvel titles, all set to feature the beloved Barbarian. According to Macchio, he is working closely with Mark Basso who will perform the main editing duties. Though Macchio did not divulge the book’s creative teams or launch dates, he did reveal that each of the three books are likely to focus on different eras in Conan’s history.

– While making an appearance on the James Bonding podcast, DC Entertainment Community Manager Dani Snow confirmed that the official DC Universe streaming service may be up and running before the summer is over. According to Snow, “We are about to launch, I think, late August, our DC Digital platform… There will be digital movies, TV shows that you can watch, streaming. And we’re gonna have a lot of comics on there.”

– According to PWInsider, Chido Comics, in conjunction with the lucha libre media company Masked Republic LLC, will be releasing a series of one-shot comics focused on luchadore themed wrestlers. The series will include issues devoted to WWE Champion Rey Mysterio as well as to other well known masked wrestlers like Rey Fenix, Blue Demon Jr., and Konnan, to name just a few. The announced art teams of Ben Harvey, Bryan Magnaye, Diego Simone, Javier Martin Caba, Kevin Kleinrock, Ruben Zamora will be joining the announced writing team of Marco Lopez (“Orion’s Belt”) and Chido Comics Publisher Ivan Plaza.

– After DC Comics indicated that there would be an early July 3rd midnight release for “Batman” #50 (the “wedding issue”) and the other regularly scheduled slate of DC releases, Marvel has apparently decided to follow suit. Appropriately enough, this Independence Day spate of releases will include their brand new relaunch of “Captain America” (written by Ta-Neihsi Coates with art by Leinil Francis Yu), along with several other highly anticipated Marvel titles including “Ant-Man & The Wasp” #3, “Avengers” #4, “Deadpool” #2, “Doctor Strange” #3 and “X-Men: Gold” #31, to name just a few.

– A new 3D fighting game from Bandai Namco titled Jump Force was announced at yesterday’s Xbox E3 2018 briefing. The reveal already has gaming and comic fans excited as it includes well-known characters like Goku and Frieza from “Dragon Ball,” Light and Ryuk from “Death Note,” and Monkey D. Luffy from “One Piece” (amongst other “Weekly Shonen Jump” characters). Jump Force is slated for release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC next year. Work-in-progress gameplay can be watched here.

– Our very own social media manager Kate Kosturski appeared on popular photoblog Humans of New York, where she describes in her own words how working here has reignited her passion for writing.

And finally we can can report the results of the latest Multiversity Comics reader poll. In this weekend’s poll, we asked which title from DC’s new Vertigo relaunch are you the most anxious to read. Well, you have spoken and the winner is “The Dreaming” by Si Spurrier and Bilquis Evely, followed closely by “Second Coming” by Mark Russell and Richard Pace, and “American Carnage” by Bryan Hill and Leandro Fernandez with a solid third place showing.
