In case you missed it, DC announced an oversized anniversary issue to mark Batman’s first appearance with “Detective Comics” #1027.

– A long time DC anti-hero is finally (allegedly) meeting his end. Via ScreenRant, Deadshot is set to die in an upcoming issue of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s “Suicide Squad” run. After “Suicide Squad” #5 saw the surviving members of the Squad, including Harley Quinn, Deadshot and Captain Boomerang, breaking free from Task Force X alongside the Revolutionaries, the hodgepodge team has set their sights on the man behind the curtain: Ted Kord. That battle won’t be easy, however, and the solicit text for September’s issue indicates that bringing down Kord will cost Deadshot his life. Exactly what will cause Deadshot’s demise will be revealed when “Suicide Squad” #9 debuts on September 28.

– Via GamesRadar, DC has added the 80-page one-shot anthology “DC Cybernetic Summer” to their July schedule. The anthology will pair up robotic and non-robotic characters of the DC Universe as they embark on some summer hijinks, including Harley Quinn and Sy Borgman hitting up the water slide and Batman escaping a summer cookout to take on Brother Eye and his O.M.A.C.s. A host of creators are set to collaborate on the book, including Max Bemis and Greg Smallwood, Joshua Williamson and David Lafuente, and Che Grayson and Marguerite Sauvage. “DC Cybernetic Summer” will hit shelves and digital on July 28.

– As Gotham City marches towards the upcoming ‘Joker War,’ the people of Gotham City, including many of Batman’s allies, will find themselves caught in a city under siege. DC has announced a 48-page anthology tie-in “Batman: The Joker War Zone” #1, which will see characters such as Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, and Luke Fox fighting back as the street war engulfs the city. The one-shot will feature stories from James Tynion IV, John Ridley, Guillem March, James Stokoe, Joshua Williamson, David Lafuente, and more, and will be published on September 29. You can find a first look at the issue, as well as the mysterious new anti-hero Clownhunter, at the DC Comics blog.

– Via Geektown, HBO Max has unveiled the new trailer for season 2 of Doom Patrol. After originally airing its first season exclusively on DC Universe, the kooky show is set to premiere its first three episodes simultaneously on HBO Max and DC Universe at the end of June. The trailer offered the first full look at season 2, which kicks off with the Doom Patrol, fresh off their defeat of the evil Mr. Nobody, shrunken to mini-size and stranded on Robotman’s toy race track. Doom Patrol stars Matt Bomer, Brendan Fraser, April Bowlby, Diane Guerrero, Joivan Wade, and Timothy Dalton, and is set to premiere on HBO Max and DC Universe on June 25.

– Valiant Comics has revealed its updated publishing schedule for the remainder of the summer, providing updated release dates for its line that had previously been delayed by COVID-19. The new schedule provides dates for the ongoing series “Bloodshot” and “Rai,” as well as the limited series “Doctor Tomorrow” and “Quantum and Woody.” “Doctor Tomorrow” #3 is due out on June 24, “Quantum and Woody” #4 goes on sale July 8, a special “fully loaded” edition of “Bloodshot” #7 releases August 12, and a new arc of “Rai” kicks off with #6 on August 19.

– Throughout the ongoing crisis caused by COVID-19, Image Comics and “Ice Cream Man” creators W. Maxwell Prince and Martín Morazzo released a series of digital mini-comics set in the “Ice Cream Man” world. Those stories are now going to be collected in print for “Ice Cream Man Presents: Quarantine Comix” #1. The project was initially designed to help raise money for comic shops struggling due to coronavirus closures, with 50% of the digital proceeds going to the Comic Book United Fund/BINC Foundation. That same percentage of profit donation will be preserved for the physical edition. “We at Team ICM are so jazzed to bring these kooky shorts to print—it’s another chance for us to help the brick-and-mortar shops that have nurtured and fed us from youth through adulthood,” said Prince. “Ice Cream Man Presents: Quarantine Comix” #1 will be available in print on September 9, and it remains available for purchase on digital platforms.

– During the much-hyped Playstation: The Future of Gaming event, Marvel, Playstation, and Insomniac Games announced the game Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the upcoming PS5 platform. The new game will be set in the same universe as 2018’s critically-acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man, and will feature Miles as he masters the new powers he gained in the previous game. Meanwhile, over on Twitter, comic book writer and pop culture critic Evan Narcisse confirmed that he has been working with Insomniac Games to develop the game. The event also featured the unveiling of the game’s announcement trailer, which builds its imagery off of the iconic “leap of faith” scene from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will go on sale during the 2020 holiday season.
