In case you missed it, the legendary John Romita Sr. died, aged 93.

Art by Giopota

– Vault unveiled Steve Orlando and Giopota’s previously teased gay time travel romance “Sainted Love.” Colored by Rosh and lettered by Simon Bowland, the comic begins in New York City, 1907, and follows Malcolm “Mac” Irina, “the greatest inventor the world’s never heard of,” as well as his lover, underground boxer John Wolf. “When Irina’s lab is raided by members of a shadowy organization known as The Pilgrims, the pair escapes through Irina’s newest untested invention – a time machine.”

Separated, Mac and Wolf must journey across time to find each other again. Along the way, they will witness “iconic times in queer history, from the passion of gay saints Sergius and Bacchusto to the Lavender Mafia of the 1970s, and in between.” The mature, three-issue series will begin in August, while a collected edition is now taking preorders on Kickstarter.

– In more time travel news, Marvel announced Ron Marz and Ron Lim are reteaming for “Silver Surfer Rebirth: Legacy,” a sequel to their 2022 miniseries. Starting September 6, the five-issue series will once again revisit the time period of their 1990s run, with Norrin Radd now mentoring Legacy/Genis-Vell, the son of the original Captain Marvel. However, “even the Power Cosmic can’t replace the love of a father,” and the Surfer remembers “something that might just be able to soothe a broken heart” – something that will also bring him into conflict with the Infinity Watch.

– With the AMPTP continuing to prolong the WGA strike, Disney have altered the release dates for various upcoming films. First, the MCU: Deadpool 3 has been moved up to May 3, 2024; Captain America: Brave New World has been delayed to July 26, 2024; Thunderbolts will open December 20, 2024; Blade is moving to February 14, 2025; and Fantastic Four will release on May 2, 2025. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was pushed back a year to May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars was in turn delayed to May 7, 2027.

Meanwhile, three Star Wars films are now set to bow respectively in theaters on May 22, 2026; December 18, 2026; and December 17, 2027. It was not stated if the films will be the projects announced at this year’s Star Wars Celebration. It will mark the second time three Star Wars films have been released in the span of 18 months, following Rogue One, The Last Jedi, and Solo. The company also revealed the release dates for the new Alien film (August 16, 2024) and the live-action Moana remake (June 27, 2025), as well as that the next three Avatar films have been pushed back to December 2025, 2029, and 2031.

– CBR news editor Noah Dominguez, 26, announced his departure from the site on Monday, stating “My departure has been a long time coming and I have a lot of complicated feelings,” adding, “Maybe in the future I’ll speak more publicly about my decision to leave. Maybe I won’t. I’m just taking this transitional period one day at a time.” Dominguez joined the site in 2018; his departure comes a few weeks after site owner Valnet laid off senior news editor Stephen Gerding, as well as editor-in-chief Adam Swiderski, and senior features editor Christopher Baggett.

– Finally, in an email, veteran artist and inker Mark Propst thanked those who donated to his GoFundMe earlier this year. Propst had been facing eviction, and raised over $3000 to buy equipment that would restart his career. He says, “Thanks to you and the others I went from about to be evicted to getting everything paid up, and went from working out of my lap in an beat up easy chair, [to] a fully loaded state of the art art studio that allows me to compete with today’s standards.” He has “already completed a few small assignments,” and launched an online store on Big Cartel that you can continue to support him at, named Brilliant Comics.
