– Image have informed retailers that “contrary to earlier reports, the ‘Skybound X’ titles will not be collected” in trade paperback. “Skybound X,” a five-part weekly series out next month, will see Robert Kirkman joined by creators such as Donny Cates, Chip Zdarsky, and Kyle Starks to celebrate the Image imprint’s tenth anniversary. Each issue will open with a chapter from ‘Rick Grimes 2000’ (which first appeared in “Walking Dead” #75, drawn by “Invincible” co-creator Ryan Ottley), and will feature stories from the “past, present, and future” of Skybound. This includes new stories from the brand’s various series, original stories, and the introduction of Clementine from Telltale’s Walking Dead video game to the main canon. “Skybound X” #1 hits shelves on July 7.

– The School Library Journal has an exclusive preview of “Just Beyond: Monstrosity,” the newest graphic novel from Goosebumps and Fear Street author R.L. Stein. The story follows two siblings who discover monsters hiding in the old film studio their family purchased. Irene Flores will handle art duties, with Lea Caballero providing additional inks, Joana LaFuente coloring, and Mike Fiorentino on letters. The book will be published by BOOM! Studios this October.

– Dark Horse’s newest horror OGN, “Children of the Woods,” will hit shelves January 2022. Joe Ciano wrote the book, with Joshua Hixson providing art, and Roman Stevens and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou coloring and lettering respectively. “After a tale of revenge leads to a monstrous outcome,” the official synopsis reads, “Amber and Quinn pay the price for power and magic as they become the newest children of the Black Woods.” Ciano characterizes the book as being “about the drive that makes people become monsters, whether it’s sparked through tragedy, anger, or just one’s own curiosity.” It will release in comic shops Wednesday, January 12, and everywhere Tuesday, January 25.

– “In Waves,” A.J. Dungo’s California-set graphic novel, is getting an animated feature film adaptation from French companies Silex Films and Charades. Phuong Mai Nguyen will handle directorial duties, with Fanny Burdino and Samuel Doux handling the script. Published in 2019, “In Waves” told the story of Dungo’s late partner and fellow surfer, Kristen, who passed away from cancer. Production is expected to begin in 2022, with a release expected for 2024.

Daily Show and For All Mankind actor Nate Corddry has joined the cast of Amazon’s Paper Girls. Based on the Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang comic of the same name, Paper Girls will follow four young girls pulled into a war between time travelers while on their paper route. Corddry will play Underground member Larry.

– The CW announced their fall premiere dates for several returning series. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman both start their next seasons on October 13, with both shows moving to Wednesday. The Flash and Riverdale will kick off their respective seasons on Tuesday, November 16, starting their runs with five-part special events.

– To celebrate Captain America’s 80th anniversary, Marvel are releasing a series of variant covers depicting different Marvel heroes as Captain America. Eight covers are planned for release (one for each decade), but only “Iron Man” #10 and “Spider-Woman” #13 have been unveiled thus far.

– The first trailer for My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission has dropped, opening with the news that series mainstay Izuku Midoriya (a.k.a. “Deku) is wanted for mass murder. The film is expected to hit Japanese theaters on August 6. No word on a North American release, but a late 2021/early 2022 is expected. The trailer is available on YouTube.

– During Nintendo’s E3 Direct stream, the company announced Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot are coming to the Switch. Footage of Guardians of the Galaxy demonstrated both the action-based gameplay and dialog options players can choose during the story; similarly, footage from Kakarot shows Goku interacting with NPCs and battling villains from the classic sagas. GOTG will be available on Switch on October 26, as well as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Kakarot hits the Nintendo Switch on September 24, but is already available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

– Finally, Netflix unveiled several upcoming anime titles, headlined by The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Of note, all-women mangaka-team Clamp and production outfit WIT Studio have been tapped to produce an as-yet-untitled project based on the stories of the Brothers Grimm; director Tetsuya Tatamitani and screenwriter Yuichiro Momose will adapt Mari Yamazaki’s “Thermae Romae Novae;” and we got our first look at Super Crooks, adapted from the “Jupiter’s Legacy” spin-off created by Mark Millar and Leinil Yu. “Super Crooks” will be helmed by Carole & Tuesday director Motonobu Hori and My Hero Academia animation studio Bones. Finally, animation studio Orange announced via Twitter that season two of Beastars (based on Paru Itagaki’s manga), will premiere on the streaming service on July 15.
