In case you missed it, IDW announced a new series from Jonathan Maberry and Alex Sanchez called “Pandemica.”

– Marvel Comics released a slew of announcements in celebration of their 80th anniversary. First, a new one-shot will see legendary “Amazing Spider-Man” artist Erik Larsen return to Marvel and team with Gerry Conway, and Mark Bagley with a one-shot called “Spider-Man: Going Big.” Larsen will write the issue with Conway, and illustrate it with Bagley.

Next, Canadian superhero team Alpha Fight will receive their own one-shot, “Alpha Flight: True North.” The comic, which has an all-Canadian creative team consisting of writers Jim Zub, Jed MacKay, and Ed Brisson and artists Max Dunbar, Djibril Morissette-Phan, and Scott Hepburn, along with a cover from Nick Bradshaw, will feature three new stories that uncover the secret history of Puck, Snowbird, Talisman, Northstar, Marrina, Guardian, and Vindicator.

Finally, Marvel revealed that the story from “Marvel Comics” #1000 will continue in “Marvel Comics” #1001. The issue will feature a creative team of over 25 creators and a cover from Rod Reis. You can view that cover here. All three of these comics will be released in September.

– Professional YouTube personality and gamer Tyler “Ninja” Belvins is co-writing a graphic novel entitled “Ninja: The Most Dangerous Game.” The book will be co-written with Justin Jordan (“Savage Things”) and illustrated by Felipe Magana (who drew covers for “The Six Million Dollar Man”), and follows Ninja after he is teleported into a video game and forced to fight his way out. Belvins will also be writing two How-To books about how to cultivate an online community and how to get better at video games. The graphic novel will be published by Random House in December.

– BOOM! Studios have announced plans to publish R.L. Stine’s “Just Beyond: The Horror at Happy Landings” through their KaBoom! imprint. The graphic novel will be the second of Stine’s new line of middle-grade comics and will be illustrated by Kelly & Nichole Matthews, who illustrated the previous entry, “Just Beyond: The Scare School.” “Just Beyond: The Horror at Happy Landings” is slated for release in May of 2020.

– The selection of comics for 2019’s Halloween Comic Fest has been revealed. The list consists of 28 titles: 19 full-size comics and 9 mini-comics, many of which are reprints of titles like “DCeased,” “Swamp Kid,” and “Sonic the Hedgehog.” You can view the entire list here.

– Comic artist Nick Derington (“Doom Patrol”) announced via his Twitter that September’s “Doom Patrol: Weight of the Worlds” #3 will see a new member added to the roster: Beast Boy. Derington revealed that Beast Boy was discussed as a team member “early on in Doom Patrol development,” but he and writer Gerard Way thought the character was considered too cool and popular at the time.

– The summer blockbuster Avengers: Endgame is getting a theatrical re-release on June 28 with added content. In an interview with Screen Rant, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige said, ” [It is] not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises.”

– The new title and logo for the upcoming prequel film to 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service has officially been released. The King’s Man will be the third in the series of films based on Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ comic “Kingsman,” and is set for release in February 2020. You can view the new logo and read the official plot synopsis here.

– Finally, the nominees for the 2019 Teen Choice Awards have been announced, and comic book adaptations swept nearly every nomination in the categories of Choice Action Movie and Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie, including Avengers: Endgame, Shazam!, and Captain Marvel. Actors and actresses from the nominated movies also won nominations in the Choice Actor/Actress categories. You can view the entire list of nominees here.
