In case you missed it, multiple comic book creators are boycotting the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund after sexual assault allegations about executive director Charles Brownstein resurfaced. (Brownstein has now resigned.) Also, Dark Horse announced a tie in comic book miniseries to the video game Cyberpunk 2077, and Rick Remender is launching “The Scumbag” with Image Comics and a multitude of artists.

'Legion of Super-Heroes' #8

Brian Michael Bendis revealed a promo image featuring the name of every artist working on the upcoming “Legion of Super-Heroes” arc in issues #8 and #9. The ‘Trial of the Legion of Super-Heroes’ arc begins in September and will feature a specific Legionnaire on every individual page. The list of comic book artists includes Mike Allred, Andre Lima Araujo, Bilquis Evely, Sanford Greene, Cully Hamner, Dan Hipp, Joelle Jones, Dan Jurgens, Jeff Lemire, David Mack, Fabio Moon, Dustin Nguyen, Michael Avon Oeming, Yanick Paquette, Norm Rapmund, Darick Robertson, Duncan Rouleau, Evan “Doc” Shaner, Liam Sharp, John Timms, Art Adams, Jim Cheung, Nick Derington, Michel Fiffe, Gary Frank, Jenny Frison, Wade von Grawbadger, Mitch Gerads, Mike Grell, James Harren, Klaus Jansen, Tul Lotay, Emanuela Lupacchino, David Marquez, Kevin Nowlan, Joe Prado, Joe Quinones, Ivan Reis, John Romita Jr., Riley Rossmo, Nicola Scott, Ryan Sook and Gene Luen Yang.

David Aja (“Hawkeye,” “Immortal Iron Fist”) revealed that “The Seeds” will not release the final two issues of the comic in the single issue format, opting instead to release the new installments as a trade paperback collecting the entire series. The decision comes after over a year of delays for the four-issue Berger Books series. Aja also revealed the covers and back covers for issues #3 and #4.

From Variety, Joel Schumacher passed away yesterday at the age of 80 after a year-long battle with cancer. He is best known for his directorial work on movies such as Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, The Lost Boys, and St. Elmo’s Fire. Schumacher was born in New York City and pursued a film career after initially working in the fashion industry. His most recent directorial work was two episodes of the American Netflix adaptation of House of Cards.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Michael Keaton is in negotiations to reprise his role as Batman for Warner’s The Flash film. Keaton last played Bruce Wayne in 1992’s Batman Returns after his debut in 1989’s Batman. According to the Reporter, Warners are planning to sign Keaton for multiple films, while The Wrap claims the movie will use the ‘Flashpoint’ storyline to introduce the multiverse, meaning Keaton would play the same version of Batman. Ezra Miller will star as Barry Allen with director Andy Muschietti at the helm of the film, due out June 3, 2022.

TV Line reported that the first batch of episodes for season 5 of Lucifer will debut Friday, August 21. The season will include 16 episodes, with two batches of releases scheduled. No date was given for the debut of the second batch of season 5.

The Hollywood Reporter also wrote that Y: The Last Man has moved from cable broadcasting to direct-to-streaming, by shifting from FX, to FX on Hulu. The move is part of Disney’s plan to prioritize content for streaming after the debuts of Devs and Mrs. America under the FX on Hulu banner. Y: The Last Man is a television adaptation of the eponymous comic book created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra.

From IGN, Square Enix announced that Marvel’s Avengers, the Crystal Dynamics-developed video game, will be free to upgrade on the next gen consoles Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, if consumers purchase the video game for their current gen counterparts (Xbox One or PlayStation 4). While there is no confirmed date for the launch of the next gen consoles other than Holiday 2020, Marvel’s Avengers will be released September 4th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, and PC. The announcement comes ahead of an Avengers-themed livestream tomorrow.

– Finally, Eurogamer reported that video game developer Rocksteady is developing a video game based on the Suicide Squad property from DC Comics, and that WB Games Montreal is developing a “Gotham Knights” game. The news follows a list of recently acquired website domains for Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League, speculated to be a name for the game following the purchase of SuicideSquadKillTheJusticeLeague.com. Rocksteady previously created the Batman: Arkham trilogy from 2009 to 2015, while WB Games Montreal developed the 2013 prequel Batman: Arkham Origins.
