In case you missed it, Macmillan will be releasing an adaptation of The Librarian of Auschwitz, the biography of Dita Kraus, by writer Salva Rubio and artist Loreto Aroca. Also, Dark Horse have announced a new six-issue series called “Last Flight Out” by writer Marc Guggenheim and artist Eduardo Ferigato.

– Per ICv2, Vault Comics will publish a second World of Darkness/Vampire: The Masquerade series, “World of Darkness: Crimson Thaw.” The three-issue series will center on the character of Cecily Bain, and its creative team includes writers Jim Zub, Tim Seeley, Blake and Tini Howard, and Danny Lore, as well as artist Julius Ohta, colorist Addison Duke, letterer Deron Bennett, and designer Tim Daniel. The first issue will be released in September.

– ICv2 also reports Ten Speed Press will publish a new series based on George R.R. Martin’s sci-fi short story collection Tuf Voyaging, beginning with “Voyaging: Volume One: The Plague Star.” The book, which will be scripted and illustrated by longtime Martin collaborator Raya Golden, tells the story of a motley group of space adventurers searching for gold and glory. The first installment will be released in 2023.

The Beat reports Canadian publisher Renegade Arts Entertainment will publish an adaptation of Abu Bakr al Rabeeah and Winnie Yeung’s award-winning, autobiographical book Homes: A Refugee Story. The book, which will be adapted with artist/co-writer Nicole Wolf, chronicles the life of Abu Bakr, an Iraqi Canadian who was living with his family as a child in Syria, when the civil war broke out in 2011. The “Homes” graphic novel will be released in Summer 2023.

The Beat also reports Dark Horse will publish “Children of the Plague,” an oversized one-shot by writer/artist Robert Love with colorist Jeffrey Kimbler, and letterer David Walker. The comic imagines a world where children develop superpowers after being infected with a disease from outer space, and are are rounded up, tested on, and turned into soldiers by the evil Valmount Corporation. The book’s protagonist is Remy, an Indo-American girl who fight to free herself and her brother. It will be released on September 29.

– Titan Comics have put up a listing for “Gun Honey,” the debut graphic novel of writer and Hard Case Crime imprint co-founder Charles Ardai. Illustrated by Malaysian newcomer Ang Hor Kheng, the book follows weapons smuggler Joanna Tan, who is recruited by the US government to track down a brutal criminal, after a weapon she sold was used to break him out of a high-security prison. It will be released on September 15.

– Marvel released their September 2021 solicitations, including “Conan the Barbarian” #25, which will mark 300 overall issues of the character’s Marvel series. The 40-page, $4.99 issue will see the return of Bêlit, King Conan, and more. Writer Jim Zub will be joined by Christopher Priest, Larry Hama, and Dan Slott, and artists Cory Smith, Roberto de la Torre, Paul Davidson, and Marcos Martin. Deadline reports three new cast members have joined The Boys season 3, in recurring roles. Sean Patrick Flanery (The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Boondock Saints) will play superhero Gunpowder; Miles Gaston Villanueva (Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders) as Supersonic; and Nick Wechsler (Roswell) as Blue Hawk. The Boys season 3 does not have a premiere date at this time.

– Apple have given a straight-to-series order for an animated adaptation of “Strange Planet,” Nathan W. Pyle’s comic strip about the everyday lives of a group of aliens on their titular homeworld. Pyle will develop the series with Dan Harmon, while Amalia Levari (Over the Garden Wall) will serve as showrunner. It is unknown when the show will premiere on Apple TV+.

– Finally, comiXology are shutting down their DC-branded app next week; Wattpad and Webtoon are being merged by their parent company to form Wattpad Webtoon Studios, a new entertainment company dedicated to adapting stories published on both websites; and the finalists for the 2021 Excellence in Graphic Literature Awards have been revealed. It is unclear when the winners will be announced.
