In case you missed it,Image Comics have revealed “Ten Thousand Black Feathers,” the second installment of writer Jeff Lemire and artist Andrea Sorrentino’s ‘Bone Orchard Mythos.’ We also have an exclusive preview of “Iron Man/Hellcat Annual” #1.
– Via Popverse, Vault Comics announced “The Nasty,” written by John Lees (“Hotell”) and drawn/colored by George Kambadais (“Buckhead”). Set in the U.K., in a time where horror movies, or “video nasties” were under moral scrutiny, a group of horror-loving friends, dubbed ‘the Murder Club,’ set out to make their own horror film. As they begin to make the film, the killer they’ve created starts to become real. The book will also feature a variant cover by Sally Cantirino. “The Nasty” #1 (of 8) will be available on September 21, 2022.
– Via CBR, Mad Cave Studios have announced its upcoming fall and winter 2022 titles and solicitations. First up is “A Legacy of Violence,” a 12-issue horror mystery series from Cullen Bunn and Andrea Mutti with Rus Wooton. “A Legacy of Violence” follows Dr. Nicholas Shaw as his medical skills are put to the test by a ghastly horror from his past. “A Legacy of Violence” #1 will be available on October 5, 2022. Next is “Nature’s Labyrinth” by Zac Thompson and Bayleigh Underwood, with colors by Warnia Sahadewa and letters by Rus Wooton. The comic follows eight felons trapped on a mysterious island, forced to fight one another. “Nature’s Labyrinth” begins November 2. Finally, there’s “Dahlia in the Dark” by Joe Corallo, Andrea Milanawhich, Chris Shehan and Micah Myers, which follows Donny Dahlia, who must deliver a package safely from Pennsylvania to New Mexico — and in this case, the package happens to be the future queen of a fairy world. “Dahlia in the Dark” #1 will be available December 7, 2022.
– Also via CBR, Webtoon and DC have announced release dates for “Red Hood: Outlaws” and “Zatanna & The Ripper,” two previously announced collaborations. “Zatanna & The Ripper” from Sarah Dealy and Syro will begin on July 11, 2022, followed by Patrick R. Young and Nico Bascuñán’s “Red Hood: Outlaws” on August 14. DC and Webtoon originally announced their partnership in 2021 with “Batman: Wayne Family Adventures.”
– In addition, CBR reports that in celebration of Sabrina Spellman’s 60th anniversary, Archie will release “Sabrina Anniversary Spectacular” #1, written and illustrated by Dan Parent with colors by Glenn Whitmore, and lettering by Jack Morelli. The issue will debut Amber Nightstone, an evil witch born at the exact same time as Sabrina. There’s one problem though, according to the offical synopsis: “only one witch born that day may live amongst mortals, and Amber wants her turn, so she has to erase Sabrina from history!” Sabrina Spellman first appeared in “Archie’s Mad House” #22, cover dated October 1962. “Sabrina Anniversary Spectacular” #1 will go on sale September 9, 2022.
– In more Archie horror news, Fangoria revealed that the publisher is releasing four new one-shots as part of their inaugural “Archie’s Month of Mayhem” initiative. “Chilling Adventures Presents… Weirder Mysteries” will be written by Frank Tieri, Joanne Starer, and Ron Robbins, with art by Federico Sabbattini, Juan Bobillo, and Ryan Jampole and available September 21, 2022. “Chilling Adventures of Salem,” written by Cullen Bunn with art by Dan Schoening, will be released October 10, 2022. “Fear the Funhouse,” written by Micol Ostow, Magdalene Visaggio, and Michael Northrop, with art from Lisette Carrera, Ryan Caskey, and Diana Camero, will be available October 19, 2022. Finally, “Return of Chilling Adventures in Sorcery” is written by Elliot Rahal, Sina Grace, and Casey Gilly with art by Vincenzo Federici, Corin Howell, and Liana Kangas, and will be available October 26, 2022. – Meanwhile, Deadline reports the CW are developing a series starring the new Archie character Jake Chang. Chang, a teenage private investigator, will make his comic book debut in “World Of Betty & Veronica: Jumbo Comics Digest” #17, due out July 27. He is a modern take on Fu Chang, a private detective from San Francisco who starred in the 1940-1941 series “Pep Comics,” although it is unclear at the time of writing if the characters will have any in-universe connection. Writer Oanh Ly and writer/director Viet Nguyen, who both worked on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, are overseeing the project, which will be produced by Daniel Dae Kim’s outlet 3AD, Archie, and Warner Bros. Television.
Continued below– In celebration of their newly announced series, Marvel have announced “Planet of the Apes Adventures: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus.” The book will include all eleven issues of “Adventures on the Planet of the Apes” for the very first time. This 1975 series adapted the first two Planet of the Apes movies. “Planet of the Apes Adventures: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus” will be available in March 2023.
– Via IGN, Z2 have announced the Last Podcast on the Left spinoff “The Last Comic Book On the Left” Vol. 2. As with the first volume, the book will be “curated” by the horror podcast’s hosts, Marcus Parks, Henry Zebrowski, and Ben Kissel. “The Last Comic Book On the Left” Vol. 2 will feature many returning creators from the first volume, such as James Tynion IV, Rick Veitch, Logan Faerber and Tyler Boss. “The Last Comic Book on the Left” Vol. 2 is slated for release in Fall 2022, and is available to preorder here.
– Finally, Comicon.com states that Kyle Higgins and Marcelo Costa’s “Radiant Black” #16 will feature a special variant cover by Ukrainian artist Vlad Legostaev in support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund. Kyle Higgins said “Vlad’s cover work is a stunning addition to the lineup of excellent artists we get to work with, but what makes this special cover particularly exciting for us is its potential to help support a people in need right now.” “Radiant Black” #16 will be available July 27, 2022.
