In case you missed it, DC Comics and Walmart will be teaming up to bring 100-page “giant” anthology comics to Walmart stores beginning in July, and Image Comics will publish a sequel to this year’s graphic novel “Bingo Love,” titled “Bingo Love, Vol. 2: Dear Diary.” Meanwhile, hot on the heels of “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” “Weekly Shonen Jump” publisher Shueisha has announced another “My Hero” spin-off titled “My Heroine Academia” (focusing on the female students of Class 1A).

Dokaben Dream Tournament, Vol. 1

– According to The Japan Times, Akita Publishing Co. has confirmed that “Dokaben,” a baseball themed Japanese manga series, will be ending its 46 year run in the forthcoming issue of “Weekly Shonen Champion” (slated for a June 28th release). The strip, which is authored by Shinji Mizushima, has appeared in “Weekly Shonen Champion” (in a somewhat sporadic fashion) since 1972. The final episode will be forty pages in length and will feature a special retrospective article written by Mizushima.

– Alexis Krauss, of experimental noise pop band Sleigh Bells, is the latest musician to release a track inspired by DC’s “Dark Nights: Metal.” Following in the footprints of Mastodon’s Brann Dailor and the Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Krauss has gone solo to record the Mike Elizondo produced “War Cry.” Elizondo (Twenty-One Pilots) also contributes bass to the track, alongside Tyler Bates (Marilyn Manson) on lead guitar, Gil Sharone (Dillinger Escape Plan, Puscifer) on drum duties and Henry Lunetta on keyboards. Krauss will be rejoining Sleigh Bells this summer for a joint tour with Weezer and the Pixies.

– Dark Horse Comics is making the transition to providing healthcare coverage to transgender employees in transition. According to a tweet on Dark Horse’s Twitter feed, “Effective October 1, 2018, our health plan will expand to provide additional coverage for medical transition services for transgender employees.”

– Tom Holland has revealed that Spider-Man: Far From Home is the title of the forthcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Holland revealed this tidbit of information via an Instagram video (but tread carefully, it also contains a major spoiler for Avengers: Infinity War). Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige further confirmed the title at ComicBook.com. The movie is due out July 5, 2019.

– According to Deadline.com, Sony is developing a film adaptation of Marvel Comics’ Silk. The character Silk (created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos) is actually a Korean-American student named Cindy Moon who is bitten by the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker. Moon appeared in Homecoming, played by Tiffany Espensen. According to Deadline, producer Amy Pascal’s name has also been attached to the project.

– Deadline.com is also reporting that Courtney Ford has been promoted to a regular cast member for the forthcoming DC’s Legends of Tomorrow season 4. Courtney Ford has appeared throughout the third season as Nora Darhk, daughter of the villainous Damien Darhk (portrayed by Neal McDonough). The show returns October 22.

– According to Bleeding Cool, Mike Mignola’s Hellboy will be gracing the cover of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con Event Guide. The cover is a tribute to Hellboy on the occasion of his 25th Anniversary. Fittingly, Hellboy’s first official appearance was in a four-page black-and-white strip for “San Diego Comic-Con Comics” #2 (way back in 1993).

– According to VG247, there are plans to release Judge Dredd and other 2000 AD based video games. Rebellion Developments Limited (which has developed several successful video games franchises including Sniper Elite and Alien Vs. Predator) is also home to the 2000 AD family of comics. According to Rebellion, they may begin to focus on video game adaptations of the various 2000 AD properties (a roster of characters which includes Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog, Nemesis, and of course, the ultra violent over-the-top street cop Judge Dredd).

– And finally we can can report the results of the latest Multiversity Comics readers’ poll. In honor of Pride Month, we asked you to vote for your favorite LGBTQ superhero. And after tabulating the votes we can report that the winner is Midnighter (with 24 percent), followed closely by Batwoman (at 21 percent), and a solid third place showing for Wonder Woman (12 percent).
