– Following up on a story from April, The Beat shared more details on Barnes & Noble’s forthcoming kids graphic novel sections, which will house titles such as “Amulet,” “Wings of Fire,” and of course, Raina Telgemeier’s series of highly successful comics.
– Newsarama’s got the list of this year’s Ringo Awards nominees, which includes a variety of big names and less well-known creators and titles. The awards, established in 2017 in honor of the late, great Mike Wieringo, will be given out at this September’s Baltimore Comic-Con.
– In other awards news, Black Panther won Best Movie at this year’s BET Awards, where the film and its stars were nominated in a number of categories. Black Panther himself, Chadwick Boseman, picked up the award for Best Actor.
– In other MCU news, during an interview with The Playlist, Marvel Studios’s Kevin Feige said there are concrete plans to add on-screen LGBTQ representation to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, via both new and established characters.
– Kevin Smith confirmed that, after seven seasons, AMC has cancelled Comic Book Men, the reality series set at Smith’s New Jersey-based comic shop Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash.
– Deadline revealed Warner Bros. TV’s San Diego Comic-Con schedule, which will feature panels and screenings for comics-based series such as Riverdale, Black Lightning, Legends of Tomorrow, and more. Of particular note is the premiere of new episodes of Freedom Fighters: The Ray and a panel focused on the return of fan-favorite Young Justice.
– Also from Deadline, The Gifted star Emma Dumont has been cast as the lead in Razor, director Rob Cohen’s film based on the 1990s comic series created by Everette Hartsoe; the film adaptation of Jarrett Krosoczka’s “Lunch Lady” series has moved from Universal to Sony Pictures, with a new writer attached; and Tomer Kapon (Fauda) has joined the cast of Amazon’s The Boys as Frenchie.
– Bleeding Cool’s got a little bit of info on a new series of Marvel Masterpieces trading cards coming from Upper Deck, all of which will be illustrated by artist Simone Bianchi. To see snippets of Bianchi’s gorgeous art, click here.
– And finally, Rebel Wilson’s production banner, Camp Sugar, picked up the film rights for “Crowded,” the upcoming Image comic from Christopher Sebela, Ro Stein, and Ted Brandt, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
