– Via Popverse, new publisher DSTLRY have announced that eight stories within the upcoming anthology “The Devil’s Cut,” will be spinning out into standalone series. The eight series are “Spectregraph” by James Tynion IV, Christian Ward, and Aditya Bidikar; “Shepherd” by Marc Bernardin, Ariela Kristantina, Lee Loughridge, and Bernardo Brice; “8 Rules to Make It Out in One Piece” by Elsa Charretier, PK Colinet, Nick Filardi, and Clayton Cowles; “A Blessed Day” by Mirka Andolfo, Fabio Amelia, Arancia Studio, and Steve Orlando; “The Stowaway” by Jock; “Deleted Scene, #2” by Brian Azzarello, Eduardo Risso, and Jared K. Fletcher; “White Boat” by Scott Snyder, Francesco Francavilla, Andworld Design, and Tyler Jennes; and “What Blighted Flame Burns in Thee?” by Becky Cloonan, Tula Lotay, and Richard Starkings. In a series of tweets, the publisher also shared some preview art for each story. “The Devil’s Cut” #1 will be released on August 30, 2023, with the digital edition only available to purchase for one week.
– Marvel have announced an ongoing “Spider-Boy” series written by Dan Slott, with art by Paco Medina. Spider-Boy (Bailey Briggs) first appeared earlier this year in Dan Slott and Mark Bagley’s “Spider-Man” series, where no one remembered who he was. The first issue will feature two stories: one will see Bailey team up with Squirrel Girl, and the other will have him take on Madam Monstrosity, the same villain that changed him into a monster. “Spider-Boy” #1 will also feature covers by co-creator Humberto Ramos, and will be available on November 1, 2023.
– Dark Horse have announced “Masters of the Universe: Forge of Destiny,” by Tim Seeley, Eddie Nuñez, Brad Simpson, and AndWorld Design. The four-issue mini will serve as a prequel to Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and follows He-Man, protector of Eternia, during a diplomatic mission, when the royal caravan is attacked by minions of Skeletor; he must also contend with the machinations of Evil-Lyn. “Masters of the Universe: Forge of Destiny” #1 will be available on September 6, 2023.
– Via IGN, Mike Mignola is teaming up with Graphic Audio to release a trio of original audiobooks written by Christopher Golden, a frequent Hellboy contributor. The audiobooks are entitled Hellboy: A Plague of Wasps, Lobster Johnson: The Proteus Club, and Hellboy and the BPRD: The Goddess of Manhattan. The audiobooks will feature a full cast as well as full sound effects and music. All three audiobooks are set within continuity, with A Plague of Wasps acting as a direct follow-up to “Hellboy in Love.” A Plague of Wasps will be available July 31, 2023, with The Proteus Club out in October, and The Goddess of Manhattan in November.
– Via CBR, Warner Bros. Discovery have removed DC Super Hero Girls from many of the major streaming services. Season one is still available to stream on Netflix, however all 26 episodes of season two cannot be streamed or purchased on any platform. Warner Bros. is no stranger to removing content across their platforms for tax write offs, which includes the cancelled Batgirl film that had reportedly finished filming.
– Crunchyroll have announced a new collaboration with Toho Animation and the NBA for new fan streetwear. Debuting at MHA Con in Las Vegas in July, fans will be able to get merchandise featuring characters from My Hero Academia. The new merchandise will feature nine NBA teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers. Hyperfly will handle the retail launch of shirts, hoodies and jackets, starting in the fall.
– AMC have revealed the first look trailer for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The show will follow Norman Reedus’s Daryl as he washes up on the shore of post-apocalyptic France. The trailer shows Daryl hiking through the countryside until finally arriving at a village. To find out as to why Daryl is in France, catch The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon this fall on AMC and AMC+.
– Finally, the Hollywood Walk of Fame revealed 2024’s new names will include the late Chadwick Boseman, Kevin Feige, Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Christina Ricci, and more. Carl Weathers will also receive a star, albeit under the category of sports entertainment for his pre-acting career as a football player. Dates have not been scheduled for the unveiling of each star.
