Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– As part of Captain America’s 75th anniversary, Marvel Games is planning to introduce seven new Captain Americas in each of the different Marvel mobile games. This includes a version of Captain America who’s actually Peggy Carter and one where Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter’s daughter, Sharon Rogers, becomes Captain America. This is cool because it gives us even more versions of Captain America who aren’t Literal Nazis and made me realise that there are seven different Marvel mobile games.

– Over at DC, they’re hyping up their “first comedy” Powerless at NBC with an interview with some of the cast on the DC All Access. This interview confirms that all-time legendary DC characters like Crimson Fox and Jack O’Lantern. No, the one you’re thinking of is the Spider-Man villain. DC’s Jack O’Lantern looks almost exactly like The Prowler. Yeah, the… other Spider-Man villain.

– In a galaxy far, far away, however, it looks like there might be a bit of a shake-up with Rogue One. As part of Entertainment Weekly’s coverage of the film, Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that they are having “talks” about how elements like the traditional opening crawl will play into the film as it’s not exactly a traditional Star Wars film. Being the first Anthology film, it’ll be interesting to see how Lucasfilm juggles giving it a stylistic feel to itself while keeping it feeling like Star Wars.

– Meanwhile, the timeline of the current Star Trek movies (which, as you may remember, deviated from the original timeline when Nero and Spock travelled back in time) has been given a name. Moving away from the term Abramsverse to something a bit more neutral, the official name is now The Kelvin Timeline named after the ship on which George Kirk met his final fate. This is cool and speaks to the idea that we’ll definitely see more of this timeline after Star Trek Beyond.

– Speaking of Star Trek Beyond, here’s a third (and, I hope, final) trailer set to the Rihanna song ‘Sledgehammer’ which surprisingly isn’t terrible. I’m very excited for this movie.

– Finally, this isn’t so much news as a plea for you to watch this video by Mickey Neumann talking about The Iron Giant. Just… just do me a favour and spend fifteen minutes with it. Your existence will be better for it.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
