In case you missed it, “The Walking Dead” is ending today (yes, you read that right), Dark Horse announced a sequel to 2016’s “Spell on Wheels,” and cartoonist Guillermo Mordillo passed away at the age of 86.
– IDW is publishing a comic set within the continuity of YouTube’s Cobra Kai series. The Hollywood Reporter says that the book will first re-tell The Karate Kid from Cobra Kai student Johnny Lawrence’s perspective, in a story written by Denton J. Tipton and illustrated by Kagan McLeod.
– John Allison and co.’s “Giant Days” is ending its run with an oversized one-shot that will drop in October. Newsarama has more details on “Giant Days: As Time Goes By,” which will bring the long-running, Eisner Award-nominated series to an end.
– Newsarama also reports that “Marvel Zombies” is returning for another go-round in October. The first teaser for the new series features zombified versions of Captain America, Deadpool, and Wolverine, illustrated by artist Inkyuk Lee.
– The Los Angeles Times broke the news that BOOM! Studios is teaming with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers to create novel series based on “Goldie Vance” and “Fence.” The series will be aimed at middle-grade and young adult readers, respectively. The first Goldie Vance novel, titled Goldie Vance: The Hotel Whodunit, will be written by Lilliam Rivera, while the first Fence novel will be written by Sarah Rees Brennan (Demon’s Lexicon). Both series will launch next fall.
– The Hollywood Reporter says that the solo Flash movie may have picked up a new director and screenwriter. Reportedly, IT director Andy Muschietti is in talks to direct the film, while Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson will tackle the script. Ezra Miller is still set to return as the Scarlet Speedster.
– The Wynonna Earp television series is returning for a fourth season in summer 2020. IDW Entertainment announced the news themselves over at their website.
– “Akira” creator Katsuhiro Otomo has been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, along with 841 other potential new members. You can check out the full list of animation-related invitees over at Animation Magazine.
– New Spider-Man: Far From Home suits are coming to the PS4’s Spider-Man game – for free. IGN has a look at the two new Spider-Suits.
– And finally, the highly-anticipated TV adaptation of Stumptown is set to premiere on September 25 at 10 pm Eastern, according to Newsarama.
