Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Over at the ever impressive Ron Wimberly’s tumblr, Wimberly wrote about why he believes comic book publishers should start paying artists for text pages. It’s a pretty interesting read and sparked a conversation about business models in the comic book industry. It’s no secret that this is an industry built on the rickety back of duct-taped together business plans from the 40s onwards, but maybe it really is time we start looking into how publishers compensate the artists who make their products.
– In news that proves that 2016 is one of the hardest years to get through in recenment, Noel Neill has passed away. Neill was perhaps best known in comics-reading circles as Lois Lane in Adventures Of Superman opposite George Reeves as Superman. That link takes you to be a more well-written obituary than I could ever dream of putting together.
– Now, I hate to make this the segue out of that piece, but I do have to move on and speaking of Adventures Of Superman, the title to the first episode of Supergirl‘s Second Season should seem pretty familiar. Titled “The Adventures Of Supergirl” and scheduled to air October 10, I cannot wait to see Superman on the small-ish screen again.
– If you’re like me, you’ve been waiting for another Tintin movie from Steve Spielberg and Peter Jackson for what feels like forever now. Well, talking to the New Zealand Herald, Spielberg confirmed that he and Jackson will work together on a follow up… eventually. First, Jackson has to finish working on a top secret project for Spielberg. Just bring back Tintin already, guys.
– Over at Comicbook.com, there’s some pretty convincing evidence that Robbie and Gabe Reyes may be heading to Agent Of SHIELD. Now, this is surprising to me on two points. One, I never thought I’d see those two ever again after “Ghost Racers” and, two, I never thought ABC would let Ghost Rider on that show. What this means for my hopes of a Ghost Rider show on Netflix is anyone’s guess, but I can only hope the Reyes brothers aren’t brought down much by slumming it with the Agents Of SHIELD crowd.
– Finally, some poor soul has put together a compilation of Batman’s kills in Dawn Of Justice which ends up in rage-inducing double digits. As someone trying to struggle through a rewatch of that film to experience Snyder’s much lauded Ultimate Cut, I find myself wondering if people are praising a different movie than the one I saw.
