– Anime Mojo has reported that Episode 01 of the Dragon Ball Heroes PR anime has aired. It was shown last Saturday in Japan, where it will be an exclusive as it will not be broadcast anywhere outside the country. The anime consists of 8-minute episodes and the first episode is titled “Goku vs Goku: A Super Battle Begins On Prison Planet.”

– “Fantastic Four” #1 will be receiving launch parties at participating retailers. As excitement builds over the return of the F4 to Marvel, they are getting an all-out push for the new series by Dan Slott and Sara Pichelli. Participating retailers will have an exclusive variant cover, free window clings, and a July 2018 Spotlight Free Previews which will have a preview of “Fantastic Four” #1. The relaunch starts August 8.

– ScreenRant is reporting that Kevin Smith is currently shopping his cancelled show, Comic Book Men. AMC cancelled the show centered around Smith and his friends, Brian, Walter, Mike, and Ming in late June after 96 episodes. If not by another network, there is always the possibility of it being picked up by an online streaming service like Netflix or Hulu. Until then, fans can look forward to Jay and Silent Bob returning for a new VR series, and another film – literally titled Jay and Silent Bob Reboot – set to begin production this August.

– Nick Thorburn, the frontman from The Islands and Unicorns, is releasing a 288-page graphic novel, called “Penguins.” Thorburn explains, “Penguins go through a lot of hell that could be avoided if they had the ability to fly. This cruel irony lends itself to humor, as well as sadness.” The novel will release this September via Fantagraphics.

– This week’s edition of Vermont’s Seven Days is the annual Cartoon Issue. This issue gives the writers a chance to do something different by telling stories through illustrations. From goat yoga to microdosing mushrooms, this week’s issue is full of interesting comics, including a sneak peek at Glynnis Fawkes’s upcoming biography of Charlotte Brontë, due out next year from the Center for Cartoon Studies.

– Yesterday’s poll, in honor of Independence Day, asked “Who is the more iconic American superhero?” With 66 percent of the vote, Superman is the leader over Captain America. You couldn’t go wrong with either choice, as they both represent this country in the best way possible.
