– In case you missed it, Dark Horse announced “Call of Duty: Zombies 2,” and comiXology added two new manga series, “BECK” and “Seven Shakespeare’s.” We also have an exclusive peek at “Quicksilver: No Surrender” #3.
– Comicon.com have reported “The Backstagers” will be returning to BOOM! Studios with a new special issue in October. “The Backstagers Halloween Intermission” #1 will be written by James Tynion IV and Rian Sygh along with a few special guests; Sam Johns (“The Backstagers: Valentine’s Intermission”), Shan Murphy (“Bouquet”), Abby Howard (Junior Scientist Power Hour”), and Savanna Gamucheau (“Bloom”). – Skottie Young announced “Middlewest” on Twitter yesterday. Jorge Corona (“Big Trouble in little China”) will draw the fantasy comic, with Jean-Francois Beaulieu on colors and Nate Piekos on letters, which is coming from Image Comics in late Fall.
– The Beat have the full press release on DC Comics Before Superman, a book debuting at SDCC, which has a fascinating insight into National Allied Publications founder Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson’s beginnings in the pre-DC Comics publishing world, and the start of original stories for comic books. This will also include early work by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, prior to “Action Comics” #1, among 170+ pages of early comics.
– Ming Doyle has revealed on Twitter her new DC Comics project, Anatomy of a Metahuman. She explains “I spent a year illustrating this book from Bruce Wayne’s POV.” Written by S.D. Perry and Matthew K. Manning, the book is a guide to metahumans through the eyes of Batman/Bruce Wayne, and is available September 18, 2018.
– Were you, like myself and many others, hoping to see Doctor Strange appear in Spider-Man: Far From Home? In an interview with SlashFilm.com, Kevin Feige cleared things up by answering a question on whether Spider-Man would visit the London Sanctum; “I could be coy about it, but no.” He continued, “I don’t wanna get people excited. But Benedict and Holland have liked the idea of working together.” Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters July 5, 2019, and stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
– Legendary Pictures has joined Sunrise Inc. to produce a live-action Gundam movie. The announcement came at Anime Expo, which kicked off yesterday at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Plot details are currently under wraps, however Cale Boyter (Pacific Rim: Uprising) is overseeing the project on behalf of Legendary along with the Sunrise Inc. creative team. This isn’t the first live action project based on Gundam, G-Savior, an alternative universe TV movie, was produced by Sunrise and Polestar Entertainment back in 2000.
– “My Hero Academia” is getting a fighting game. Bandai’s My Hero One’s Justice will be released on all platforms in October. As well as the release date announcement, Bandai Nacmo revealed three new playable characters; Gran Torino, Muscular and Endeavor, who will be available to those who preordered the game. This brings the number of characters in the roster to 20. My Hero One’s Justice will feature a story mode playable from both the heroes and villains’ perspectives, and character customization. My Hero One’s Justice will be available October 26.
– Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi’s “Ultraman” manga will be getting an anime adaptation. The anime will be released Spring 2019 and will be released worldwide simultaneously on Netflix. Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, Napping Princess) and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed, Captain Harlock: Space Pirate, Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars) will direct.
