– Artist Mirka Andolfo (“Hex Wives,” “Mercy”) has signed a deal with BOOM! Studios and will be providing 12 covers for the publisher from now through 2021. “It’s cool that the first American publishing house which asked me to do a cover was BOOM! Studios, when I was working as a colorist,” said Andolfo. “After years I’m happy and proud to be back on covers for the same publisher. I find the same enthusiasm and quality there was at that time, and books which are even better! I’m thrilled to work on covers for all these amazing series, especially the ones in the Buffyverse.” She will provide five variant covers for “Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow,” as well as variant covers for “Power Rangers: Drakkon New Dawn” #2 this September and “Something is Killing the Children” #15 next year. The remaining five covers are yet to be revealed.

– Comic retailers Comic Odyssey, Filbar’s and Planet X are working alongside Filipino comic artists Leinil Francis Yu, Stephen Segovia, Kajo Baldisimo, Whilce Portacio, Mico Suayan, Harvey Tolibao and Levi Ramirez whose original illustrations will help raise money for #SuitsForHeroes, a charity that purchases PPE for Filipino healthcare workers. The artworks will be auctioned off in late July, and retailers will be offering store credit equal to any donations made. Funds will be distributed between Frontliner Feeders Philippines, Kaya Natin, and Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation Incorporated.

– The recent Image Comics Humble Bundle has officially raised over $140,000 in proceeds for the BINC Foundation. The bundle includes over US$1,563 worth of comics for a maximum of $18. The fundraiser will also support Travelling Stories and the Hero Initiative, which help support comic shops, independent bookstores and comics creators in need.

– A huge portion of Marvel’s ‘digital-only’ comics will be going back to print as single issues through August and September. Following the market downturn caused by COVID-19, Marvel announced that a portion of its ongoing titles would only be getting digital monthly releases, and would only be printed as a part of their collected editions. “Aero” and “Swordmaster” have also returned to the Marvel solicitations after an extended absence, with issue #10 of each series releasing on August 26 and September 2, respectively. Both series have been solicited up until their twelth issues.

Batman: The Animated Series will be getting its own art book from Mondo, Phantom City Creative and Insight Editions this October. The book features original art and designs from the 1992 series, as well as a foreword by series writer, Paul Dini. “Filled with Erikson’s slick graphic design as well as beautifully rendered illustrations, this Batman: The Animated Series art book is a one-of-a-kind tribute to one of the greatest animated shows of all time,” reads the book description. You can get “Batman: The Animated Series – The Phantom City Creative Collection” on October 6.

– Netflix have announced Part 4 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be the show’s last. In a statement, creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said, “Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from Day One. The cast, beginning with Kiernan [Shipka] as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see Part Four.” This comes after the CW’s announced cancellation of Katy Keene, making Riverdale the last Archieverse show on air. Part 4, which will consist of eight episodes, will release on Netflix later this year.

– Following the departure of Ruby Rose from the CW’s Batwoman, it has been announced that Javicia Leslie ( God Friended Me, Always a Bridesmaid) will be donning the cowl in season 2. “I am extremely proud to be the first black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television,” said Leslie. “And as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show, which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community.” Leslie will be appearing as the new character Ryan Wilder, rather than acting as a recast of Rose’s Kate Kane. Leslie is set to debut as Batwoman in the season 2 premiere in January 2021.

– A new teaser trailer for The Boys season 2 just dropped and with it comes a new swathe of details about the show’s second season. In an interview with showrunner Eric Kripke, it was revealed that alongside the 8-episode season, fans can expect the short film Butcher, which will bridge the gap between seasons 1 and 2, revealing what happened to Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher after the revelation at the end of the first season. (The footage was originally intended for the second episode of the season, but was cut for time.) Season two will include an expanded role for Giancarlo Esposito’s Stan Edgar and Aya Cash’s Stormfront, with Kripke saying The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan could appear in Season 3. Season 2 premieres on Amazon Prime Video this September 4.

The Umbrella Academy released the first trailer for its sophomore season, where the Hargreeves family journey back to 1963, once again fighting to prevent an apocalypse that they’re more culpable in than they’d like to be. When we first meet the various siblings they have assimilated into their ’60s lifestyle: Luther is working for real world gangster Jack Ruby, Allison is happily married, Klaus is running his own cult, Diego is in a mental institution and Vanya has buried the memory of her apocalyptic outburst. It takes the return of Five to bring them back together and catalyse their mission to save the world from its premature apocalypse. This time the end of the world is centered around a Russian invasion, the Kennedy Assassination and MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) paranoia. The trailer reveals surprise appearances from a new fish-bowl headed Commission leader, three Swedish assassins, and the previously dead Reginald Hargreeves. The second season arrives on Netflix on July 31.
