Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Over at comicbook.com, Marvel has announced a new ongoing series focusing on the Mad Titan himself, Thanos. The series will be written by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Mike Deodato, both of whom aren’t revealing much about the series as yet because apparently Thanos’ new mission is a big reveal in the first issue. Expect that to be spoiled before the issue hits shelves.
– DC, meanwhile, has announced “Vigilante: Southland”, a modern update on the Vigilante character. The new Vigilante will be Donny Fairchild, a black man living in Los Angeles, who becomes a costumed crimefighter after the murder of his girlfriend. The comic will be written by Gary Phillips and illustrated by Elena Casagrande and sounds like it could be an interesting read.
– Greg Pak is writing a crossover comic between “Escape From New York” and “Big Trouble In Little China” with artist Daniel Bayliss. This might be the best thing to happen all year. This might make everything worth it. This is why I read comics.
– Speaking of why I read comics, the announcement that there’s going to be a comic exploring the “secrets” of Call Of Duty‘s Zombies minigame, which apparently has continuity and everything. This is why I hate comics, sometimes.
– Let’s end on a nice note, though, shall we? If you haven’t already, check out the music video for the new single from CHVRCHES which features art by Jamie McKelvie. It’s pretty amazing.
