– DC Comics has announced a new six-issue mini-series starring entitled “Ragman.” The series will feature the first appearance of Rory Regan, aka Ragman, since ‘Rebirth’ began in Spring 2016, and one of only a handful of appearances since “Flashoint” in 2011. Ray Fawkes, writer of “Gotham by Midnight,” will pen the mini-series while the art will be illustrated and colored by “Batgirl Annual” #1 team of Inaki Miranda and Eva de la Cruz. The series will follow Regan as he attempts to learn how to use the suit of souls before a demon from Hell can steal it. It will also explore the guilt Regan has because his whole team died retrieving the suit, yet he got to make it out. This is Ragman’s first starring role in a comic since 2010’s “Ragman: Suit of Souls,” however, he had a recurring role on Arrow in its most recent season, played by Joe Dinicol. The first issue is slated to appear on shelves October 11th.

– Netflix has picked up Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s Eisner winning graphic novel “The Umbrella Academy” as a 10 episode Netflix original series. Fargo showrunner Steve Blackman will serve in the same role, and will executive produce alongside Bluegrass Television, Mike Richardson, and Keith Goldberg, while Way Co-Executive Produces. The Exorcist’s Jeremy Slater adapted the script for the pilot from the comic book series. Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland said, “We’re excited to see this world and introduce these unforgettable heroes to Netflix members around the globe.”

– Aftershock is expanding Marguerite Bennett’s “Animosity” into a second ongoing series, entitled “Animosity: Evolution.” The series which is being described as the “Star Trek to ‘Animosity’s’ Star Wars – the ethical and philosophical exploration to ‘Animostiy’s’ dark adventure” will be written by “Animosity” writer Marguerite Bennett and drawn by Eric Gapstur, who inked Warren Ellis’s “Shipwreck” for Aftershock. “Animosity: Evolution” #1 is set to release on October 18th.

– Marvel has announced the creative team for their new Marvel Legacy series “Spirits of Vengeance.” The book which will follow Johnny Blaze’s Ghost Rider, Blade the Daywalker, Daimon Hellstorm, and Satana will be written by Victor Gischler and illustrated by David Baldeon. No specific plot points were mentioned in the announcement but the introduction of a new character was teased.

– Writer of “Superman: American Alien” Max Landis has begun teasing the follow up to that story on twitter. “Superman: Agent of Batman” according to Landis’s twitter will be prestige-format seven chapter graphic novel. Could this be the same prestige format Scott Snyder is working on with Sean Murphy? The tweets also included a tease of the script which featured an interaction between Clark Kent and Dick Grayson.

– According to Deadline, The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra is Warner Brothers frontrunner to direct Suicide Squad 2. This comes after Warner reportedly considered many other directors, including Mel Gibson. It’s being reported that DC and Warner would like the film to be up and running by March 2018.

– Musician Lindsey Stirling has announced her first endeavor into comic writing. She’ll be the co-writer of a new creator owned series for Aspen Comics called “Sparrow.” Her other co-writers will be Darick Robertson and R. Eric Lieb. No artist has been named.

Buzzfeed News has exclusively revealed that Lucy Liu will be directing the first episode of Luke Cage season 2. “Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors.” said executive producer Jeph Loeb.
