Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

In case you missed it, San Diego Comic-Con is almost here, so the big news is starting to trickle in. We have full stories on the new creative team on “Wonder Woman:” G. Willow Wilson and Cary Nord, a new BOOM! series from “Misfit City” writers Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith & Kurt Lustgarden and artist Leisha Riddel, Marvel D-lister “Sleepwalker” returning, and the cast announcement for Y: The Last Man.

– The Avengers are getting their first Halloween special in October. The anthology-style special’s main story follows Iron Man and Captain America as they seek out one of Howard Stark’s abandoned weapons, as well as bonus stories featuring Daredevil, Punisher, and the X-Men. Gerry Duggan (“Deadpool”), Robbie Thompson (“Spider-Man/Deadpool”), and Juanan Ramirez (“Uncanny Avengers”) all contribute to the special, as well as horror writer/actor/directors the Soska Sisters (American MaryDead Hooker in a Trunk) and writer/actor Jay Baruchel (Goon, This Is the End) making their Marvel Comics debut. Geoff Shaw provides the cover art. “Avengers Halloween Special” #1 hits stands October 3.

– Statix Press is bringing “Wrath of Fantomas,” the 2014 Joe Schuster award-winning graphic novel, to the English market in January of next year. The book is an adaptation of the popular series of novels by Pierre Souvestre and Marcel Allain, and is written by Olivier Bocquet (“Snowpiercer” Vol. 3) and illustrated by Julie Rocheleau (“About Betty’s Boob”).

– Rob Liefeld’s “Prophet” is getting a film adaptation courtesy of Studio 8, with hopes of turning it into a franchise. They’ll be starting with the original ’90s-era incarnation of the character, as opposed to the recent relaunch that saw him in the far future.

– Despite the controversy over DC spoiling “Batman” #50, the issue still managed to sell extremely well, even for “Batman.” It beat “The Walking Dead” on the most recent comiXology bestseller list, which is uncommon for any book to do.

– Netflix has released a first look at their upcoming adaptation of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The illustrated poster was shared by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa writing, “Here we go! So exciting…” The design will also be featured on a bag for San Diego Comic-Con 2018.

– “Suicide Squad” #50 will be writer Rob Williams’s last issue on the series. He has been on the series since ‘Rebirth’ started back in 2016, and will have the longest run on a “Suicide Squad” title besides the original series’ writer, Jon Ostrander.

– Samuel L. Jackson has seemingly confirmed that he will be returning to the current Marvel Cinematic Universe with a series of pictures depicting his classic eye patch and goatee look (which he wouldn’t need while filming the ’90s-set Captain Marvel).

– EW has the first official image of Zachary Levi in costume for the upcoming Shazam! movie. There have been several leaked spectator photos, but this is the first one formally released by the studio.

– The latest Humble Comics Bundle debuted yesterday. This time around it features IDW’s “Dungeons & Dragons” line of comics. Part of the proceeds will go to the Hasbro Children’s Fund.
